    Job Description

    We are recruiting an Accountant for a thriving non-profit organization in downtown Sacramento. This is an onsite contract role and opportunity to work with an amazing company that supports local community-based programs. The Accountant will perform technical and professional accounting functions in the analysis, interpretation, recording and reporting of the company's financial transactions. Pay: $32.95/hour.

    The ideal candidate will have two years of accounting experience, including financial reporting, and strong technical skills.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Generate and distribute monthly financial reports and review with staff
    • Download IFAS data to spreadsheets
    • Prepare and update spreadsheet reports
    • Prepare financial portion of grant applications
    • Prepare budgets, financial statements and related schedules for HUD, enterprise funds and HCD grants
    • Prepare quarterly and semi-annual financial reports for HUD grants and Federal Cash Transactions
    • Prepare annual state financial report
    • Review financial data to check for posting and reporting errors
    • Check balance sheet accounts, revenues and expenditures for accuracy and reasonableness
    • Investigate discrepancies in journal entries and correct as needed
    • Assist with compilation of company budget
    • Gather data to help project current revenue, expenses, and year-end fund balances
    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 4-year degree required in Accounting, Finance or Business concentration.
    • Intermediate Excel skills required.
    • Experience with financial modeling to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
    • Basic understanding of real estate accounting.
    • Experience working with multifamily, and/or mixed-use projects a plus.
    • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
