The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is required to uphold the accountability for the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Headquarters (HQ) and the Developmental Centers (DCs) as the main function of the position, according to the State Administrative Manual (SAM) and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for independently performing oversight, auditing, and approval of Departmental daily deposits.The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for timely completion of Accounts Receivables, Special Projects, and reports, which maintain the accountability of the General Fund and Office Revolving Fund for HQ and the DCs.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an openspaced partitioned office environment. Must have the ability to move about, stand, reach, stoop or bend. Sedentary position and requires repetitive hand motion, while using keyboard, mouse and monitor. Must be able to use a personal computer approximately 60%70% of total office time.
Must be able to use various office machines:
copier, scanner, fax, etc. May be required to transport items up to 25 pounds (files, boxes, books). During peak times, including year-end processing, requests for leave usage will be limited and approved on a case-by-case basis.

- The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through stateoperated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
- The DDS is located in a modern, sustainable and innovative office building at 1215 "O" Street, Sacramento, California.
