- Develops and maintains a broad understanding of the payments industry, the competitive landscape and the associated compliance and regulatory issues to make effective recommendations to clients.
- Gathers market and customer information to develop sales strategy.
- Leveraging personal and professional networks, seeks out new partner relationships with programs and processors that are within the bank's risk appetite.
- Listens to the client's needs during the sales call and recommends suitable products or services that will meet their needs. Develops an in-depth knowledge of the clients including understanding the existing products and services as well as the market competitors to gauge best approach to clients.
- Acts as the primary contact with the client throughout the sales process to handle issues and concerns.
- Works with internal departments to ensure issues and concerns raised by client during sales process are responded to in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assists in the identification of potential risk factors and determine solutions to mitigate exposure.
- Develops pricing proposals for clients, ensuring pricing that is advantageous to both the client and Sutton Bank. Obtains approval on the commercial contract terms from Payments Management.
- Develops and presents contract terms and conditions to the clients, negotiates contracts in accordance with Sutton Bank contract standards.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applicable products, services, policies and procedures.
- Identifies opportunities to provide additional services or resources to customers.
- Attends payments-related conferences and events to prospect for new clients and meet with existing clients to increase brand recognition and maintain awareness of industry developments and trends.
- Leverages the CRM tool on a daily basis to keep detailed notes and track progress of each lead.
- The ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both in verbal and written communications, as well as, present information to groups of managers, employees, customers, and the general public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the payments industry, products, and associated regulations.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Technical writing, to include reports, procedure manuals, articles for publication.
- The ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements, government regulations, professional journals, etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limed standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Solid understanding of technology and operational process required to deliver and support new products.
- Position is required to travel as business needs dictate, potentially up to 50% at times.
