    Job Summary:


    The Sales Director is accountable for achieving or exceeding assigned budget goals by being responsible for managing & leading a defined District or Team.

    This individual will have multiple levels of responsibility and focus, to include ensuring that each direct report has a clear and effective business plan that will support them achieving or exceeding their assigned goals; managing to specific standards of performance for each individual as well as the overall team; measuring, understanding, and managing to a set of leading indicators of success; leading activities that create, progress, and ultimately deliver new or expanded business; accurately forecasting the teams instrument(s) and/or consumable numbers; and documenting the coaching/development of each team member to include co-travel, regular 1:1's, bi-annual performance reviews, and other feedback tools.


    This individual works in a heavily matrixed environment and must be accountable in cross-functional engagement and organizational partnership to successfully achieve revenue goals.

    As the leader of their District or Team, the Sales Director must also work closely with their peers on the Commercial Leadership Team to gain alignment and build functional relationships within adjacent headquarter roles required to support corporate alignment.


    Requirements:
    An ability to effectively participate in cross-functional teams and to excel within a matrixed organization.

    A desire to lead and coach team members; actively participating in their growth and success.

    A willingness to develop, coach, and hold accountable individuals towards achieving assigned goals and metrics.

    A strong understanding and familiarity with gene expression technologies including qPCR, microarray analysis and Next Generation Sequencing. Experience in Oncology preferred.

    5 or more years of leading or managing a team of sales professionals.

    An ability to travel >75% of the time (District / Team dependent).

    MS or BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field preferred.

    Exceptional administration skills including CRM and process documentation.

    Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.

    Excellent time management and project management skills.


    Job Accountabilities:
    Strategic & Customer Focus


    Lead the team through the cultivation of new business, while also helping them maintain & grow current business within assigned District or Team to achieve or exceed assigned sales quota.

    Lead, coach, and drive towards a strategic process/approach within designated District or Team, focused on key customers and prospects in order to promote communication, strategy, and tactical planning necessary to maximize account penetration.

    Assist their team in developing and maintaining key strategic customer relationships.

    Embrace and train to the concepts of "String Selling" through effective coaching on the utilization of provided tools (such as Blue Sheets) to ensure a consistent and complete strategic approach to accounts.

    Developing People / Coaching

    Demonstrate ability to recruit, hire, retain, and promote talented individuals.

    Provide on-going coaching and performance management to continually enhance overall sales productivity and career development; oversee and direct all HR-related issues within the established process; ensures all administrative requirements within the performance management responsibility are completed accurately and on-time for all team members.

    Act as a coach/mentor by providing continual support, feedback and direction through the execution of SOP's. Demonstrate effective Co-Travel preparation, execution, and written coaching follow-up. Effective execution of defined campaign management processes and strategic initiatives.

    Demonstrated Leadership

    Show overall enthusiasm, initiative, and determination while leading through change.

    Be a positive, effective role model that seeks out new challenges within & out of existing role and help guide and motivate others.

    Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior while fostering team unity. Serve as a valuable resource to others within the organization at all levels.

    Collaborates with peers and other leaders while being the "voice" of the District or Team with Marketing, Customer Experience, R&D, Business Development, etc.

    Forecasting & Business Planning

    Analyzes and appropriately utilizes financial reports to make business decisions.

    Understands and leverages what adds value to the business, as well as demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the products and processes within segment.

    Leverages knowledge, experience, and good judgment to achieve goals and objectives as well as incorporates into decision-making the goals and objectives of the company.

    Actively manages and coaches to the sales funnel, correct forecasting, CRM, and other resources to ensure accuracy.

    Base salary is an integral part of NanoString's total compensation package. Base salary considers an individual's skills, experience, and competitive market value.

    The base salary range represent what NanoString pays for a job within a salary grade based on external market data in comparison to similar positions from other companies in our industry.

    Employees generally enter a salary grade at the lower-to-mid-point in the range.

    Other compensation elements include a discretionary annual bonus, incentive compensation for sales roles, comprehensive benefit plans and paid time off, including designated holidays.

    COVID-19


    VACCINATION REQUIREMENT:
