    From their brand-new facility in northwest Houston, this distributor of specialty metals serves high-end customers in a variety of industries, including:

    The Company has grown rapidly since its founding in 2017 and is now at an inflection point where a Director of Sales is needed to take ownership of leading and guiding the sales team.

    This is a good situation for someone to walk into – not a disaster that needs to be cleaned up. That said, there is ample room for the new Director of Sales to make their mark.

    The Position

    Reporting directly to the Company President, the new Director of Sales will:

    • Lead a team of seven
    • Lead the sales function - providing leadership, coaching, direction, assistance and accountability
    • Develop sales strategies, select technology tools and sales training to achieve business and sales goals
    • Monitor and act on industry trends and competitor activities
    • With Company leadership, develop goals and forecasts and then periodically report on sales and marketing results
    • Represent the firm at selected industry and community events
    • Be personally involved with sales and account management with select key accounts
    • Lead the recruitment of new sales professionals as needed
    • Be a member of the Company leadership team

    Compensation is a mix of base, commission, bonus and insurance and other benefits.

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area
    • At least five years of experience in a B-to-B sales leadership position
    • At least ten years of post-college work experience that includes sales and account management experience
    • A track record of results / business growth
    • Previous experience in the metals industry is preferred
    • Previous experience in a fast-paced quoting environment is preferred
    • A stable employment history
    • A hands-on, coaching leadership style, without micromanaging
    • A presence and personality that inspires confidence, encourages high morale, and invites subordinates to be open with him or her
    • An entrepreneurial spirit
    • A "team player" orientation
    • Previous experience developing sales people
