Work from the IDA office in Los Angeles
International Documentary Association (IDA) is seeking qualified candidates for a new position as Human Resources Manager. IDA supports the vital work of documentary storytellers and champions a thriving and inclusive documentary culture. We are dedicated to the vision of a world where documentary creators flourish.

Through our work, we connect audiences with the best of the form, provide resources, create community, and defend the rights and freedoms of documentary artists, activists, and journalists around the globe.

We do this work because we believe that documentaries enrich and deepen our culture, fostering a more informed and connected world.

This role is not included as a member of the collective bargaining unit.
At IDA, we believe in and practice these values in all of the work we do:
IDA believes in the dignity of work and the rights of workers to organize.

We support the unionization of our own staff in Documentary Workers United/CWA Local 9003, and the unionization efforts of documentary filmmakers, storytellers, and the crews of documentary projects.

IDA believes in an inclusive workplace culture where the diverse identities of our colleagues are celebrated and we work to be more inclusive, more diverse, and accountable to each other.

We support this work through our programs – like the Nonfiction Access Initiative that supports filmmakers with disabilities – and our culture.

Below is an overview of the responsibilities and qualifications for potential candidates.

It outlines, to the best of our ability, the current scope of the role, with the understanding that jobs evolve and change over time and that no job description can capture all of the responsibilities of a job or detail everything that may be expected of you in the role.

This role will partner with the Managing Director to develop and implement all policies and processes related to hiring, salaries, benefits, performance management, and professional development within the organization.

The role will also ensure that employment practices are held to the highest standard of equity and transparency while maintaining organizational culture and legal compliance.

Participate as management representative with union shop stewards.
