    General


    Summary:
    The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides peer support services to adult members under the supervision of the Program Director.

    The PSS will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a member advocate, providing information and peer support for members in outpatient settings.

    The PSS performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process recovery resources such as books, tapes, pamphlets and other written materials will be utilized by PSS in the provision of services.


    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Reports toassignedlocationasscheduled;followsagencyattendancepolicies;submitsaccuraterecordofhoursworkedonaweeklybasis.

    Utilizes a strengths-based approach along with personal experiences while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with members.

    Provides members an example of what they can strive for in their recovery and instills the belief that recovery is real and possible.

    Must be able to understand and implement individualtreatmentplangoals by providing behavioralhealth covered peer supportservicesto members

    Works with various community organizations and resources to provide additional support for members, particularly as they transition from recovery back into the general community.

    This can include continued healthcare, housing, job assistance, and additional treatment services as well as support in the task of finding or re-integrating with friends, family, and outside communities.

    Conducts individualand groupservices.
    Adheres toalllicensing requirementsforthesite/program/agency.
    Transportsmembers tolocationsin thecommunity as needed for service delivery,usingamotorvehicle.
    Maintains requiredvehicledocumentation; maintainscleanlinessand maintenanceprotocolsforagency vehicles.
    Closely observesmembers, toensuretheirsafety,andappropriateparticipationinprogramactivities.
    Completes progressnotes,incidentreportsandotherdatasheetswithin therequired timeframe.
    Works with membersofthetreatmentteamandotherprogramsensuringserviceprovision tomembers.
    Participates inclinicalroundsorcaremanagementprocessasrequired.
    Adheres toagencypolicy on theprovisionofservicesand administrativerole.
    Attends CFT'sandART'swhenrequired;attendsregularlyscheduledTeamMeetings,andothermeetingsasrequired.
    Follows agencypurchasingand accounting procedures.
    Renders emergency aid, safeguards members' rights, including reporting of abuse when required.
    Performs other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education –

    HS/GED required.
    Experience -

    Past personal experience within the behavioral health system or child welfare system required.
    Certification –

    Peer Support Certification from Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) or another approved provider.

    Regulatory:
    Minimum 18 years of age.
    Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
    CPR, First Aid & AED certification, if required (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).

    Valid Arizona Driver's License, 39-month Motor Vehicle Report, proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meet company insurance requirements, if required.

    Negative TB test result, if required (Employer provides).
