    The

    Construction Manager

    is dedicated specifically to commercial solar construction management.

    Current focus is on ground mount, single axis tracker projects mostly in the 1-2MW range per site, as well as projects to include rooftop, carport and BESS.

    This position can be

    remote based .


    Position Responsibilities and Duties:
    Internal

    Stress the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
    Provide excellence and consistency in the management and delivery of the project, in-line with the client's expectations.

    Maintain business continuity between various groups within SOLV Energy.
    Continual monitoring of operational efficiency and make corrections where needed.

    Assess and suggest improved processes, collaborate on new technologies, and coordinate with SOLV Energy management regarding the implementation of these improvements.

    External

    Maintain strong industry relationships.

    Provide administrative, management (supervisory staff), and related services, as required for the overall coordination of the work of the contractors and vendors and their coordination with each other and with the activities and responsibilities of the Construction Manager, the Owner and the Design Team; so as to promote the completion of the Project in accordance with the Owner's objectives for cost, time and quality.

    Arrange, on behalf of Owner, for all Work, including but not limited to supervision, labor, services, materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for the execution and completion of the Work to be provided and performed by independent contractors and vendors.

    Schedule and conduct pre-construction, construction and progress meetings to discuss such matters as procedure, progress, problems and scheduling. Prepare and promptly distribute minutes of such meetings.

    Consistent with the Project Schedule and utilizing the contractor's construction schedules provided by the separate contractors, develop and update the Project Construction Schedule incorporating the activities of the contractors on the Project, including activity sequences and durations, allocation of labor and materials, processing of shop drawings, product data and samples, and delivery of products requiring long lead time procurement.

    Monitor, update and revise the Project Construction Schedule as required to show current conditions and revisions required by actual progress.

    Revise and refine the approved estimate of construction cost. Incorporate approved changes as they occur and develop cash flow reports and forecasts as required by Owner.

    Provide regular monitoring of the approved estimate of construction cost, showing actual costs for activities in progress and estimates for uncompleted work.

    Identify variances between actual and budgeted or estimated costs and advise the Owner whenever projected costs exceed budget or estimates.

    Develop and implement procedures for the review and processing of Applications from contractors and vendors for progress and final payments; make recommendations to the Owner for payment.

    Develop and implement procedures for the review and processing of contractor's requests for changes, assist in negotiation of contractor's proposals, make recommendations to the Owner and if they are accepted prepare change orders for the Owner's approval and signature.

    Determine whether the Work of each contractor is being performed in general accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents and endeavor to achieve satisfactory performance from each of the contractors.

    Endeavor to guard the Owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.

    Recommend to the Owner actions to be taken when requirements of a contract are not being fulfilled and the non-performing party will not take satisfactory corrective action.

    Establish the responsibilities for safety precautions and programs required for the Project and, in particular, those of the contractors undertaking work at the Project site, by incorporating such requirements and responsibilities within the construction contracts.

    Consult with the Design Team and the Owner if any contractor requests interpretation of the meaning and intent of the drawings and specifications and assist in the resolution of questions which may arise.

    Receive from the contractors all shop drawings, product data, samples and other submittals; coordinate them with information contained in related documents and transmit them to the Design Teams for approval.

    In collaboration with the Design Team, establish and implement procedures for expediting the processing and approval of shop drawings, product data, samples and other submittals.

    It is understood that Construction Manager shall not be responsible for the accuracy of the technical aspects of the aforesaid data, the responsibility for such review being the sole responsibility of the Design Team.

    Assist in obtaining building permits and special permits for permanent improvements, excluding permits required to be obtained directly by the various contractors.

    Assist in obtaining approvals from authorities having jurisdiction over the Project.

    If required, assist the Owner in selecting and obtaining the professional services of surveyors, special consultants and testing laboratories and coordinate their services.

    Record the progress of the Project and submit written progress reports to the Owner.

    Maintain, on a current basis, a record copy of all contracts, drawings, specifications, addenda, change orders and other modifications; shop drawings, product data, samples, submittals, purchases, materials, equipment, applicable handbooks, maintenance and operating manuals and instructions, and other related documents and revisions which arise out of the Contract Documents or Work.

    Make all records available to the Owner and at completion of the Project deliver all such records to the Owner, retaining copies for the Construction Manager's records.

    Maintain, on a current basis, cost and accounting records, showing the cost incurred for the Work.

    Assist the Owner in arranging for delivery and storage, protection and security for Owner-purchased materials, systems and equipment which are a part of the Project, until such items are incorporated into the Project.

    With the Design Team and the Owner's maintenance personnel, observe the contractor's check out of utilities, operational systems and equipment for readiness and assist in the initial start-up and testing.

    When the Construction Manager considers each contractor's work or designated portion thereof substantially complete, the Construction Manager shall assist the Owner and the Design Team in coordinating inspections and in the preparation of a list of incomplete or unsatisfactory items.

    The Construction Manager shall coordinate the correction and completion of the Work and shall assist the Owner and Design Team in deterring when the Project or designated portion thereof is substantially complete.

    The Construction Manager shall assist the Owner and the Design Team in conducting final inspections and in the issuance of required guarantees, affidavits, releases, bonds, waivers and the delivery of keys, manuals, record drawings and maintenance stocks.

    Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

    2-5 years of experience in commercial solar design and construction.
    Ability to regularly communicate analyzed data to client and team to achieve strategic project goals.
    Strong working knowledge of construction drawings.
    Electrical knowledge, background a plus.
    Highly organized with strong analytical skills.

    Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with executive level external and internal clients as well as external team members (architects, engineers, contractors, client's representatives, etc.).

    Ability to manage all aspects of multiple construction projects effectively and efficiently including, but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, submittals, change orders, QA/QC and project closeout.

    Experience working with developers, owners and local jurisdictions.
    CCM, LEED, AIA, PE or PMP certifications are desirable.
    Position location may be remote, preferably in Northeast United States.
    Ability to travel 75% of time.
    Face to face and/or remote daily interpersonal interaction is usually required in order to perform the job.
