    Summary

    This position will report to Region 3 / Mitigation Division. The ideal candidate for this position will has experience developing floodplain or water resource policy/guidance and providing technical compliance assistance (such as for; Executive Order 11988, Federal Flood Risk Management Standard, National Flood Insurance Program,

    Duties

    What will I do in this position if hired?

    In this position, you will serve as an expert floodplain management advisor and manage a highly complex professional workload supporting various disaster and non-disaster grant funding programs or initiatives.

    Typical assignments include:

  • Reviewing, drafting, or finalizing complex project floodplain impact determinations.
  • Providing floodplain management and environmental planning policy and project compliance technical assistance to program and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with FEMA Headquarters, regional, and field staff peers, state program staff, applicants, and contractors regarding floodplain management.
  • Managing highly complex projects or program initiatives with short and long-term objectives and facilitating creative or streamlined compliance solutions with multiple stakeholders.
  • Developing standard operating procedures, policy, guidance, or compliance tools related to floodplain management.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
