Position Summary:


The Benefits Data Specialist reports to the DBHIDS SDOH Equity Unit, Manager of Social Drivers and Clinical Collaboration within the Systems Integration Unit.

This position is responsible for supporting the DBHIDS Employment Initiatives by collaborating closely with the DBHIDS Employment Systems Program Specialist to promote economic mobility through employment, financial security, and vocational training.

This involves transforming systems so that people are healthy, housed, prepared for work, connected to job opportunities, and more — while acknowledging the impact that racial inequities have had on each of these systems.

This initiative connects people experiencing economic instability, homelessness, criminal justice involvement, substance use disorder, and mental health challenges to existing employment, training, and education programs to contracted DBHIDS Employment Providers and external employment/vocational resources.

The Benefits Data Specialist will provide expertise regarding the Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work Program and develop individual and system wide education and training, providing insight of how individuals can obtain work while obtaining SSl/SSDI benefits, and the overall increase in quality of-life education and employment providers.


Additionally, the Benefits Data Specialist will manage the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Socially Determined, Social Scape-a social risk intelligence platform which provides insight into population, community, and individual level social determinants of health (SDOH).

These insights will provide information to strategically identify sustainable resources that are needed to increase individual, community and population wellness by measurable, quantitative results-specifically youth and their families enrolled into Trauma to Triumph (rf) and those enrolled in our SDOH Supports Program.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Partner closely with the Socially Determined implementation team to execute the rollout of Social Scape
  • Analyze and visualize population, community and individual level data monthly generated from Social Scape.

Skills Required:


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative clinical team as the situation requires.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, flexible and ability to multitask.
  • Data analysis skills
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation as it relates to correspondence necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures necessary, and make changes accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelors level Degree required
  • Masters level degree preferred

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time across the Philadelphia community to meet with individuals receiving DBHDS services interested in employment.
  • Frequent and prolonged work at a computer and/or on the phone for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion.
  • Minimal lifting, bending but role typically requires long period of sitting.

Essential Functions:


  • Colead system wide education and training (internally and externally) regarding economic mobility through employment, vocational and educational programs
  • Lead DBHIDS efforts to debunk myths around entering the workforce while obtaining benefits such as SSA.
  • Manage the implementation of Socialscape
  • Produce reports and presentations
  • Collaborate and partner closely with other members of the SDOH Equity Unit, Systems Integration, providers and community based organizations
