    Job Opportunity:

    Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a DevOps /Release Engineer to join its Information Technology team in Boston, MA. BHSI is leveraging Duck Creek Claims platform for Claims processing and is looking to implement various solutions to support our Global Claims operational needs. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who is experienced in the software development lifecycle (Iterative as well as Agile) and has a clear understanding of various Build/Deploy automation tools including developing deployment pipelines (CI/CD pipelines). This person would work with developers and the IT staff to oversee code release and branching strategies, combining an understanding of both engineering and coding. Someone with experience in deployments and who can support our Claims system in a SaaS environment, lift & shift migrations, GIT branching and deployments using innovative SaaS solutions.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Experience in working on version control systems like GitHub, Azure DevOps Server (formerly known as Visual Studio Team Services VSTS) and other command-line applications.
    • Managing application software codebase including branching, merging and versioning.
    • Good understanding in DevOps migration/automation processes and scripting to build and deploy packages.
    • Hands-on with Configuration management using Octopus and maintaining environment variables, CI/CD build pipelines and deployment related files.
    • Configuring Octopus Deploy as a common build engine to build and deploy applications to dev, QA, UAT and Prod environments.
    • Working closely with developers to pinpoint and provide early warnings of common build failures.
    • Experience in waterfall, SDLC, agile, and homegrown methodologies.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    • Computer Science degree or relevant experience.
    • 2+ years of industry experience in DevOps activities.
    • Extensive hands-on experience with version control systems and scripting language(s).
    • Hands-on experience with GIT deploy and branching is a plus.
    • Experience in deploying applications in a SaaS environment is a plus.
    • Hands-on experience with Octopus Deploy is a plus.
    • Experience and knowledge of software development life cycle.
    • Experience with .Net Solutions and SQL and relational database design.
    • Experience with systems integrations.
    • Experience with Claims and Policy systems (Duck Creek, Guidewire etc.) is a plus.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
