- Partnership Identification and Outreach: Conduct research and identify potential partnership opportunities aligned with the firm's strategic objectives
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners, including financial institutions, asset managers, and technology providers, to explore collaboration opportunities
- Deal Execution: Support the end-to-end deal process, including structuring, negotiation, and documentation of partnership agreements
- Presentation Preparation and Deliver: Prepare compelling presentations and messaging to communicate internally and externally. Note: minimal travel may be required for select partnership opportunities
- Performance Monitoring and Ongoing Management: Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing partnerships, identifying areas for optimization and growth
- 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, consulting, or a related field
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and credibility with external partners and stakeholders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all work activities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines

About the role
We are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives team. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, possess strong business development skills, and think strategically about partnerships and business strategy. An understanding of the institutional retirement industry, particularly the 401(k) space is a plus. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic growth of the firm through the identification, evaluation, and execution of partnership opportunities.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment's total compensation package for employees.

In the interview process, we'll look to learn more about your skills, experiences, capabilities, and motivators. Many of our questions will be aimed at understanding how you might operate here at Betterment. Depending on the role, we may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, as we want to collect a robust set of data points to better inform our decisions.
On average, it takes us around 3-5 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 2-3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision. Please note that, as we usually receive an overwhelming number of applications for open positions, we're unable to offer individual feedback during the interview process.
