    Synergy Management Group is a premier boutique consulting firm that specializes in providing outsourced/fractional corporate finance and growth strategy consulting services to institutional investors (private equity & venture capital), portfolio companies, and growing businesses across various industries. We partner with our clients to evaluate, design, execute, and maximize growth opportunities in sourcing, diligence, operations/value creation, and exit.

    Client work is primarily remote/virtual and includes: Financial Planning, Analysis, and Modeling, Valuations & Capital Raising, Financial, Commercial & Operational Due Diligence, Competitive Strategy, Buy-Side & Sell-Side Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions, Fractional CFO & Executive (or Interim) Leadership, Operations Performance Improvement, Turnaround & Restructuring, Growth Strategy, Post-Merger Integration.

    This is a partner track role, initially structured as a remote contract position.

    Role Overview:

    This is a remote contract position, a whirlwind 2-to-3-week sprint, a trial run designed to test your mettle in the arena of deal-making. Can you close that one transformative deal? If so, the path to a long-term engagement awaits.

    Synergy Management Group, our boutique consulting firm, is on the cusp of greatness, and we need a visionary like you to lead the charge. We're seeking a Managing Director of Growth and Business Development with 10+ years of partner-level management consulting experience from the ranks of industry giants like McKinsey, BCG, or Bain.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute targeted business development strategies to secure consulting engagements ranging from $50K to $1M+ with institutional investors (private equity & venture capital) within our four main service areas (refer to: ).
    • Leverage your existing network and relationships within the private equity industry to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
    • Collaborate with our executive team to create and implement strategic plans for client engagement and revenue generation.
    • Successfully close new client engagements through effective lead generation, proposal development, negotiation support, and client relationship management.
    • Client relationship management and senior-level client engagement supervision.
    • Utilize your deep understanding of the private equity landscape to provide valuable solutions and insights to clients.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience within the management consulting and private equity industry at top-tier or boutique firms (e.g., McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Accel, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley).
    • Extensive network and relationships within the institutional investor ecosystem, particularly in the private equity and venture capital sectors.
    • Proven track record of identifying and closing $50K-$1M+ consulting engagements with institutional investors.
    • Strong business development skills, with the ability to convert leads into successful client engagements.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

    Compensation:

    • This is a remote, commission-only, contract position. Compensation is based solely on successfully closing new client engagements for SMG, as a percentage of new client retainers, which range from $50K to $1M+ per engagement.
    • For engagement supervision of new client engagements that you generate, compensation will be $125-$500+ per hour.
    • Upon successfully closing several new client engagements, compensation can transition to a more traditional model (e.g. base salary/monthly retainer + commission).
    • You will be expected to successfully close a $50K+ consulting engagement with a new client within the first 30 days of joining Synergy Management Group, leveraging your existing network and relationships within the institutional investor (private equity & venture capital) industry.
