    Work Assignment:
    June 2024-August 2024Position SummaryThe Operations Manager is responsible for camp logistics and operations. They will provide support to the Camp Director.

    Operations include purchasing, direct point of contact with parents and caregivers, customer service, organizing transportation to include bussing logistics and schedules, departure of campers, partner with the Food Service Manager to ensure all dining hall operations are running effectively, and ensuring safety protocols for emergency situations are practiced each week.

    Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage the daily operations of the camp service business. Coordinate all transportation needs based on overall camp need.
    Manage incoming and outgoing mail. Oversee all incoming and outgoing functions including transportation, buses, check in, check out, etc.

    Oversee the inventory and ordering of business, program, and office supplies, and arrange for the routine maintenance of the camp business equipment.

    Maintain inventory of office supplies and place appropriate orders.
    Ensure office equipment is in good operating condition. Recommend purchases and perform shopping function as needed for camp supplies. Maintain all records and ensure proper procedures are implemented regarding fleet management.
    Assist in the management of and record keeping of camper and staff information.
    Assist camp director in the collecting and filing of forms from camp staff and campers.
    Record, file, summarize, and prepare reports related to camper registrations.
    Assist in collection of complete and accurate incident reports and documentation related to insurance.
    Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs. Ensure that ACA standards, state codes, and guidelines from GSGLA are followed.
    Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
    Set a good example to campers and others regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship. Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures in all program areas.

    Act as a member of the camp senior staff team both within activities and throughout the camp day to plan, direct, and supervise all camp operations.

    Address program concerns in a timely manner; effectively communicate changes and concerns with the Camp Director. Assist in the planning and implementation of staff training. Serve as a role model through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.

    Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special programs, sleep outs, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.

    Participate in senior staff meetings and lead daily staff meetings as needed. Other duties as assigned.

    GSGLA Lakota Overnight CampThe Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles Camp Lakota is a state of the art, recently updated residential camp.

    Located just 90 miles from downtown Los Angeles, this premier camp site will host a full summer camp season.

    The camp will focus on providing a stand-out girl-led experience for campers of all ages and communities across our 6,272 square mile footprint.

    The camp offers a variety of specialty activities including a high ropes challenge course, horseback riding, swimming, and archery.

QualificationsQualifications (Minimum Education and Experience)Must be 21 years of age or older. College degree preferred. Documented progressive supervisory experience. Documented experience in senior staff roles at organized camps, especially overnight camps. Ability to drive, possession of a valid driver's license, and clean DMV record. Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR prior to first day of work. Must submit health history form prior to first day of work. Must be committed to work the entire camp season and attend all pre-camp trainings. Ability to live onsite acting as an on-duty supervisor for the duration of the camp season. Additional Organizational RequirementsSubscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement.

    Physical RequirementsThe incumbent must be able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/herself or others.

    Communicates and works with all ages and skill levels and provides necessary instruction to campers and staff.

    Observes camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforces appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.

    Needs to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Constantly responds appropriately to situations requiring first aid.

    Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

    Frequently moves luggage, tables, chairs, and program equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Needs to traverse and move several miles daily, at various grades, elevations, and on uneven terrain. Possess endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Needs to sustain activity at 6,000 feet (1830 meters) in elevation. May lift to 50 lbs. periodically. If more, the incumbent must request assistance.
    Must be able to live in a rustic camp setting and work flexible hours.

    Operate with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, raccoons, and other wilderness animals common to the area.
