Simulator Product Solutions LLC ) is a well-established and profitable sub $10 million company conveniently located off the 405 freeway in Carson that supports the needs of the US and friendly militaries and prime contractors throughout the world. We specialize in custom niche products and are well known in our industry. We're looking for an Engineering Department Manager to join our team on a full-time basis.
Job Summary
The Engineering Department Manager will play a key role within our organization, responsible for leading and managing advanced "skunkworks" type engineering operations. You will lead, direct, and control all activities concerning new product development programs to meet customer and business objectives for quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
The Engineering Department Manager will drive operational excellence, process optimization, and innovation in our engineering and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives. With your extensive experience and leadership skills, you will contribute to the success and growth of our organization, as you will directly impact our operational performance, customer satisfaction, and competitive advantage in the market.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the development of detailed electrical and mechanical plans for new designs and products.
• Make determinations for equipment, staff, and training needs.
• Propose project and program budgets.
• Hire and supervise engineering staff.
• Lead research and development projects that produce new designs, products, and processes.
• Review engineering department work for technical accuracy.
• Coordinate work with other managers and staff
• Determine electrical design requirements, objectives, and priorities, using input from customers and evaluating similar and related products.
• Plan projects by analyzing customer requirements, establishing solution implementation, and conferring and collaborating with other members of the engineering group.
• Organize design projects by identifying short-term and long-term requirements.
• Help building and testing prototypes; creating Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP); performing troubleshooting and resolving performance or design problems.
• Maintain engineering team accomplishments by coordinating activities; obtaining expert input; reviewing open issues and action items; contributing informational and electro-mechanical analysis to team meetings and reports; guiding technicians.
• Provide sustaining support by offering technical support; troubleshooting and resolving production problems related to electro-mechanical design.
U.S. Persons Requirement
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
Skills and Qualifications
• Requires a B.S. degree in Mechanical and/or Electronic Engineering.
• Experience in the development of firmware/software, with direct applicable experience in the design of displays, microcontroller, and video circuits.
• 10 years minimum experience.
• Strong background with system level electro-mechanical design.
• Hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Experience in a fast track (fast paced, fast to market) design to production environment.
Salary Range: Market based on experience.
