Position Summary:


The Accounting Technician II reports to the Controller, works with the accounting team and assists in all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounting operations of the company.

Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for performing higher level accounting tasks such as resolving non-routine issues; analyzing data to report on key metrics; analyze data to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and implement improvements; documenting and maintaining standard operation procedures; preparing and reconciling data; and providing exceptional customer service.

The incumbent will audit and reconcile accounts, including, but not limited to, Purchasing Card (P-Card) reconciliation, vendor statement reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, reporting and pulling files for auditors, etc.


Salary Range:
$60,000 - $64,000


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Audit payables documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Process vendor payments and identify payments that require nonresident withholding.
  • Assist with monthend reconciliation process to ensure proper accruals and accurate balances.
  • Assist with the ongoing
- effort to update and improve accounting policies and procedures.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal rules, tax regulations, and guidelines as they relate to the Accounting team, including 1099 review and issuance and payment escheatment.
  • Assist procurement department with full cycle purchasing functions.
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries.

  • As needed, perform a regular, diligent review of the general ledger and work with the Toro Auxiliary Partners Senior Accountants to correct any identified errors or omissions.
Train student assistants in administrative, accounting and reception duties, as applicable.

  • Perform other projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible accounts payable, general accounting or business experience which has provided the knowledge and abilities required for this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including threeway matching principles.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems (document imaging system and ERP system), and/or other types of records management systems.
  • Work independently; and make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities.
  • Skilled in organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines while processing a high invoice volume with accuracy and providing a courteous, professional demeanor and excellent customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Finance Enterprise financial system experience a plus.
  • An understanding of tax reporting regulations (1099, 1042S and 592B) experience preferred.
  • Purchasing Card (P-Card) reconciliation experience a plus.
  • Previous experience in higher education a plus.
