Position Information


Employment at Toro Auxiliary Partners is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or Toro Auxiliary Partners at any time with or without cause or advanced notice.

Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $17.00.

Purpose of Position

The Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE) seeks interns for the CSUDH Fabrication Lab. The position is a part-time, paid internship.

Our goal is to provide our intern with the real-life experience necessary to execute and manage projects that utilize fabrication technology with the intent of promoting the development of new knowledge and research with an emphasis on serving communities that are underrepresented in STEM disciplines.

In the role of Fab Lab Technician, interns will support the day-to-day setup, breakdown, procurement of supplies, and scheduling of events across various schools and venues.

Additionally, the intern will support the execution of instructional curriculum and projects.

The intern routinely interacts with fabrication hardware, software and gains knowledge about STEM Education, and project management skills and procedures.


Responsibilities:


  • Able to present and explain the functions of the fab lab machines and related software.
  • Executes checklists for events and/or training sessions.
  • Transfer fabrication equipment, tools, etc. from trailer to classrooms or event sites.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of learning stations onsite or offsite.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of machines.
  • Understand and complement the mission of CISE.
  • Responsible for cleaning up the work area 30 minutes prior to the end of shift.
Minimum Qualifications

  • CSUDH Undergraduate/Graduate student in good academic standing.
  • Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Agree to grade monitoring; maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Meet with Fab Lab Manager each semester to discuss academic progress in order to renew internship, work maximum weekly hours and/or to reclassify.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
