- Receive, open, date, and organize incoming mail correspondences
- Log new mail in the "Mail Log" within two business days
- Scan Paper files as electronic files (i.e., digitize mail)
- Upload electronic files to intranet-based filing cabinet
- Organize and prepare electronic files for telework
- Refer unusual correspondence and questions to management
- Print physical copies of electronic files e.g., legal forms, decisions, correspondence, etc.
- Organize, prepare, pack, and ship boxes of files, as well as send electronic file packages
- Perform HTML formatting, generate and maintain Excel tracking spreadsheets, populate Word templates, etc.
- Follow standard operating procedures for mail and case management
- Use office software like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- A minimum of a high school diploma
- Washington, DC 20201
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass background investigation to handle sensitive information
- May be subject to HSPD-12 credentialing requirements

ROLE
We need a General Clerk for the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Secretary, Departmental Appeals Board. Your role as a General Clerk will be to receive, organize, and digitize incoming mail, logging it in the "Mail Log," prepare electronic files for telework, refer complex matters to management, print physical copies, when necessary, manage physical and electronic file shipments, perform HTML formatting, and use various software tools following standard procedures.
