    Description

    Role Purpose:

    To act as a business development and marketing manager, and to lead Berger Montague's management and development of pitches, proposals, and presentation materials, including online to raise the Firm's profile, and in other marketing collateral. Berger Montague is seeking an experienced and exceptional individual with a strong background in proposal and pitch generation to:

    • Support the legal team in responding to RFPs and pitching potential clients (including but not limited to corporate, institutional, and government);
    • Develop the value proposition and practice group messaging to present a compelling offering to the potential client;
    • Organize presentations and offer advice on style, approach, and messaging;
    • Incorporate feedback into drafts and timely create a final polished product that will exceed the client's expectations;
    • Provide suggestions and recommendations on ways to improve the marketing of the firm;
    • Help the firm increase revenue and profitability across markets, practice areas, and clients, by winning and growing business;
    • Lead market and client intelligence efforts to create new opportunities for practice groups; and
    • Channel the Berger Montague brand, identity, and culture through a single communications voice.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, or related discipline
    • 5 years or experience in responding to RFPs and creating pitches and proposals in a professional services environment
    • General understanding of the role of business development within a law firm environment
    • Database experience and knowledge of management systems and presentation software to create elegant, finished products
    • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, communication, and organizational skills
    • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects under deadlines
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with solid judgment and decision-making abilities
    • Ability to recommend and implement solutions
    • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with attorneys, staff, professionals, clients, and others

    What will your day look like?

    A typical day will require you to manage the pitch and proposal response lifecycle from start to finish. This will include learning about and flagging potential opportunities, organizing, and conducting proper kick-off calls, determining RFP/response requirements, compiling and organizing information, creating new content, quality control, and ensuring on-time delivery of engaging proposals to win business. You will provide strategic guidance for business development proposals, and pitches and will interface with the attorneys and staff involved to best position pursuit for successful outcomes. You will gather intelligence, conduct research and analyses, and be responsible for key message development. You will also work to present new content on Berger Montague's website and develop other marketing collateral.

    The expected annual base pay range for this Philadelphia-based position depending on education, experience, professional background, and other factors is $125,000 – $175,000 per year, plus discretionary annual bonuses based upon meeting goals.
