Experience

Jr Compliance Analyst Asset Management Entry Level - Alliant Asset Management Company

To Whom It May Concern:

I was introduced to real estate analysis when my father was presented with a promotion that required our family’s relocation to Denver, Colorado in elementary school. I eagerly became involved in the planning for a potential move. I came across Zillow and created a spreadsheet with data showing Denver homes comparable in size and price to our current Philadelphia home. I then presented that spreadsheet to my parents, who saw my excitement as I began to understand the housing market. My fascination has continued to grow since then, expanding beyond residential real estate and into the multifamily industry. Now, my goal is to further develop and utilize key skills in marketing and finance to establish a career as an compliance analyst at Alliant. I plan to use the academic and professional experience I acquired while at Drexel in marketing, finance and real estate management and development to add value to each project I take on. The rigor of my coursework and internships instilled me with extensive organizational and problem-solving development that allow me to strategically maximize my bandwidth at Alliant.

My professional experience began with an opportunity to be mentored at Berkshire Hathaway as a residential/multifamily analyst (acquisitions) intern. There, I was responsible for the asset management and quarterly valuations for four (formerly six) multifamily investments within the portfolio - located across the downtown markets. I prepared marketing materials for capital raising and co-investment opportunities for brokers and downtown development authorities. I created a lasting impact by managing two large development investment projects and underwriting and screening potential equity and preferred equity investments for value-add multifamily/residential funds. Additionally, I streamlined the refinancing process for two of the properties, and evaluated investment opportunities for the multifamily, value-add portfolio analyzing key performance indicators, for inclusion in financial modeling, a feat I wish to repeat at Alliant. While developing practical skills in the industry, I also applied my growing experience to my studies and campus involvement. I became an active member of Drexel University’s Real Estate Club and obtained my argus software certification and real estate salesperson license.

Prior to my graduation from Drexel, my grandmother's health began to decline. In her final months, I learned about her passion for real estate investing. She explained to me that decades prior, she was able to use her successful investments to provide housing for marginalized youth in Fairmount, Philadelphia. Over the summer, I cleaned out that Fairmount house and it became clear that my purpose is to build a solid foundation in the industry to be in a position to continue the family legacy.

Though I have gained relevant real estate experience, I have also explored and developed a wide range of interests through Drexel’s co-op program and academic courses. Due to the diversity in my expertise, I believe I offer a unique perspective to the industry. I am eager to expand on the knowledge and skills that I’ve gained through my undergraduate studies and preliminary career experience. I am driven by my family history and a long-term admiration for and interest in the industry. I hope to use my distinctive position to support and advance the team and company’s initiatives and shape the future of living as a compliance analyst at Alliant.

Sincerely,

Zuri Peyton

Education

I recently graduated from Drexel University's LeBow College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I majored in Marketing and minored in Real Estate Development and Management and Finance. I received Dean's list honors, argus certification, and a real estate salesperson license while attending. I plan to use my preliminary career combined with my educational background to build a strong base in the real estate development industry and add exponential value to the future of living.
