Accounting Manager Description

Our client, in facilities services, is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to add to their team in Winchester, MA.

As a department of one, you will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations across a wide range of functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Our client is looking for someone with at least five (5) years of progressive accounting experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, preferably in a similar industry.

Qualified candidates will be excellent communicators, natural problem solvers, with an impeccable attention to detail; the ability to work independently but also as part of a cross-functional team with other departments is vital.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in a growing company's accounting department, with a fun and positive atmosphere; an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on in the day-to-day operations of accounting, looking to take on more responsibilities and strategic decision-making over time, and grow into the position of Controller, and part of the executive team.

Accounting Manager Responsibilities

Manage and process accounts payable; ensure timely payment and accurate record-keeping

Oversee accounts receivable, process cash payment receipts, and reconcile accounts

Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance

Process payroll, including benefits and deductions, and reconciliations

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports

Contribute to annual budget development, monitor departmental spending, and report variances

Manage month-end close process; journal entries, accruals, and preparation of financial statements

Prepare financial reports, analyze trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making

Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Manage cash flow and working capital to optimize financial performance
Accounting Manager Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline required

5+ years of progressive accounting experience required

Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations, fixed assets and preparation of financial statements required

Payroll processing experience required

Experience with financial reporting and analysis required

Proficient with accounting software and MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables) required

Strong understanding of GAAP and other regulatory standards required
