    HUMAN RESOURCE SPECIALIST
    Location(s): The Mark Center, Alexandria VA

    Hours:
    Full-Time (Remote)

    What you will be doing:

    • Process requests for personnel action regardless of their complexity.
    • Log in and track requests using an automated tracking system.
    • Review requests for completeness, and accuracy, and confirm presence of necessary supporting documents.
    • Reconcile minor discrepancies, referring others to the requestors.
    • Process actions, responding to error messages.
    • Code and enter position data in DCPDS, e.g., position establishment, end date of position, and changes in position data elements.
    • Maintain automated data files.
    • Quality Review/edit listings to identify, and then correct data errors to ensure database accuracy and currency to include position sensitivity, competitive level codes, skills codes, and a variety of others related to classification.
    • Research and assist other specialists in resolving a variety of data concerns related to system rejects.
    • Initiate corrective actions and reports significant findings to supervisor.
    • Retrieve data from the HR automated system for a variety of recurring and one-time reports.
    • Maintain position control records and ensures each position is authorized in current manpower documents.
    • Recommend new processes to improve operational effectiveness.
    • Use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc.
    • Proficient with Microsoft office tools i.e. word-processing create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print forms, memos, and letters; existing database or spreadsheet software to create, enter, revise, sort or calculate, and retrieve data for reports; and graphic tools providing graphs and charts for reports and presentations.
    • Independently carry out familiar assignments in accordance with previous instructions, standard procedures for creating documents, entering or retrieving data, and established use of software packages.
    • Recognize differences in existing procedures and applications and make choices from among established alternatives.
    • Steps and procedures differ in terms of the type of document or specific report to be produced or edited; the specific formatting required for a document, the existence of prerecorded formats, and other differences of a factual nature.
    • Transmit and receive documents and messages electronically using workstations networked or linked to other computers or workstations.
    • Provide technical support of HR systems (i.e., USA Staffing, DCPDS, and DCPS, etc.)
    • Support HRD Program Manager in all facets of USA Staffing SA Support Services
    • Maintain electronic files in accordance with established guidance, and conduct periodic records review for possible movement, storage, or destruction.
    • Complete an overview of recordkeeping for separated and transferred employees, this includes transferring EOPF, SF 1150s, Scan and uploading EOPF, and SF 1150s, Retirement Determination Error code audit, implementing EOD audits, and SCD audits.
    Position Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Experience supporting a federal human resources office.
    • Five or more years of specialized knowledge in the execution and application of processing Federal Personnel Actions as defined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Guide for Processing Personnel Actions (GPPA).
    • Five or more years of professional experience working with the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) and USA Staffing (USAS).
