    General Manager (Freight Forwarding)

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager with a strong background in freight forwarding to lead our team and drive the continued success of ITG Boston. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of operations, with a particular emphasis on freight forwarding services. Reporting directly to the President, the General Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining and expanding our market presence while ensuring the highest level of service to our clients.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Leadership and Strategic Planning:
    • Provide visionary leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve company objectives and drive growth in the freight forwarding segment.
    • Oversee the development and execution of marketing and business development initiatives to expand our freight forwarding services and increase revenue.
    Freight Forwarding Operations Management:
    • Direct and coordinate all aspects of freight forwarding operations, including air and sea freight options, domestic transportation, customs clearance, and compliance services.
    • Ensure compliance with national and international trade regulations, customs clearance procedures, and agreements.
    • Provide expert advice on customs and tariff matters, as well as letter of credit handling, to facilitate smooth import and export processes.
    Customer Service Excellence:
    • Ensure timely and efficient handling of shipments, maintaining defined transit times and delivering house-to-house services as required.
    • Collaborate with clients to provide customized packaging solutions and project management support to meet their specific logistics needs.
    • Manage transport insurance arrangements to mitigate risk and provide peace of mind to clients.
    Warehousing and Fulfillment Management:
    • Oversee warehousing and fulfillment services, ensuring efficient inventory management and order processing.
    • Implement best practices for warehouse operations to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and reduce costs in the warehousing and fulfillment segment.
    Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and develop a team of 18 professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and individual growth.
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination across departments to achieve organizational goals.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in senior leadership roles within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
    • Proven track record of success in driving business growth, managing freight forwarding operations, and delivering exceptional customer service.
    • Expertise in air and sea freight options, customs clearance procedures, and compliance services.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in warehouse management systems and logistics software.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) are a plus.
