Position Summary:
The Homeownership Program Specialist is responsible for the administration of the Down Payment Assistance Homeownership Program, including implementing guidelines and procedures, participating in community outreach initiatives, developing, monitoring, tracking and reporting deliverables and outcomes to Senior Leadership.
Schedule appointments with applicants to conduct face-to-face interviews and to complete AH's document requirements
Responsible for setting up credit packages for review/submission to the Homeownership Program Committee for DPA consideration and perform preliminary reviews to ensure the buyer meets AH's eligibility requirements
Input loan information and all other related data requirements in the Homeownership tracking system for reporting purposes
Follow up with the lender on all deficient submissions and/or additional documents
Monitor loan status on a continual basis to ensure timely movement of processing and closings are achieved
Input initial submission information or changes to the transaction
Communicate with team members and lenders, as needed on the file process and documentation requirements
Coordinate with the Program Manager and the Lender/Loan Officer to schedule closings within OGCs mandated time frame.
Assists in the management of the DPA production/pipeline loan activity to ensure closing dates and production goals are met as defined by the Agency's MTW deliverables
Keeps abreast of mortgage industry standards, regulation, and changes
Obeys all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations related to mortgage lending transactions for both conventional financing and FHA/VA financing
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred
3+ years' experience working in residential lending for a bank or mortgage company in a loan origination, processing, closing environment
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage loan processing volume/caseload
Knowledge of the overall home buying process
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
Solid understanding of the primary mortgage lending business and possess a strong working knowledge of residential mortgage loans
Strong working knowledge of residential loan origination, processing, underwriting and closing transactions
Working knowledge of applicable regulations such as: Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Housing Act, Area Median Income (AMI), Fair Lending Practices and conventional and FHA/VA underwriting standards and lending parameters
Willingness to attend and participate in evening of Saturday events hosted by AH or other community stakeholders to support information sharing and promote housing or homeownership opportunities for potential homebuyers in the City of Atlanta
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Working Conditions:
Generally works in office environment.
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time; and able to work in a deadline-focused and fast-paced environment.
There may be overtime as required to meet the workload demands and or participate in community events that may be held in the evenings or on weekends.
