    You Will:

    Girl Scouts of the USA seeks a collaborative, creative, and articulate Director of Development who will work in partnership with the Vice President of Institutional Philanthropy re Development team to meet departmental goals and grow fundraising revenue in support of GSUSAs mission and vision.

    The Director of Development is a strategic thinker with excellent writing, organizational, and relationship management skills. She or he will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects for cultivation and stewardship and produce written content for fundraising materials that would strengthen GSUSAs overall fundraising capacity.

    The Director of Development will work independently within the structure provided and have a proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments and to meet deadlines. The Director of Developments reports to the Vice President, Institutional Philanthropy.

    Development & Fundraising

    With Vice President of Institutional Philanthropy, drive the mission-critical function of securing six- and seven-figure philanthropic gifts to meet departmental goals through implementation of fundraising strategies and multi-year revenue growth plans.

    Develop fundraising proposals and communication materials across multiple channels to support GSUSAs philanthropic vision, key funding priorities, and organizational needs in conjunction with national giving resources, trends, and landscape.

    Create and write concept notes and provide critical input during strategic discussions with senior stakeholders, including CEO, Chief Development Officer, VP of Institutional Philanthropy and V.P., Development, board, and key leadership from GSUSA and the Movement.

    Execute collaborative fundraising efforts in support of GSUSA and Council priorities; work closely with other GSUSA teams to ensure alignment and accuracy of information shared with external audience.

    Provide support in shaping a cohesive external philanthropic messaging in collaboration with the CEO, Chief Development Officer, VP of Institutional Philanthropy, and key leadership from the Marketing and Communications team.

    Portfolio Management and Donor Stewardship

    Manage a defined portfolio of donors; proactively identifying and qualifying new prospects and current donors for GSUSAs organizational and national work - drafting engagement plans and stewarding relationships.

    Collaborate with Developments cross-functional team members to steward donor relationships by monitoring project implementation, sharing relevant updates with funder staff, preparing grant reports, tracking financial and performance metrics, and cultivating ongoing support with the goal of renewing or expanding funding relationship.

    Partner with Chief Development Officer, VP of Institutional Philanthropy, and other colleagues in relationship-building opportunities.

    Serve as main point of contact for donors in portfolio.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    The Individual Contributor regarded as the highest level of very experienced subject matter expert with high credibility and who is perceived outside the organization as an authority in a complex scientific or professional field.

    Minimum 10+ years of professional nonprofit work experience, with a successful track record in fundraising six- and seven-figure+ gifts

    A strategic thinker who can see the big picture while not losing sight of the details, in addition to having creative energy and an entrepreneurial spirit

    Ability to articulate forward-thinking strategies and impact-driven stories that inspire and motivate diverse stakeholders and constituencies to achieve ambitious fundraising goals

    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills appropriate to engage a senior, external audience in persuasive storytelling

    Demonstrated experience in cultivating and working with diverse audiences; ability to forge strong working relationships with all levels of staff at GSUSA headquarters and local Councils to pursue gifts that support the mission and meet funders goals

    Outstanding project management, organizational, and time management skills with a focus on improving systems, coordinating efforts, and using data to drive decision-making

    REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

    Office 365 or similar suites

    Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software

    Competency in Microsoft Excel or similar software

    Raisers Edge, Salesforce or similar suites

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (i.e., degrees, certifications)

    Degree or Equivalent Experience:

    Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in directly related work experience

    Masters Degree preferred

    Minimum Years of Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years professional nonprofit work experience, with a successful track record in closing six- and seven-figure+ gifts

    SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $135,000

    This represents the present low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment.

    POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday with a 35 hour per week schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
