- Manages position requests, justification, recruitment, hiring, and training
- Ensures all new employees are properly trained and competencies assessed prior to independent practice
- Informally and formally assess staff competence and completes annual performance evaluations
- Properly documents and follows institutional policy and procedure for employee performance or behavior issues
- Manages time off of assigned employees to ensure appropriate patient care coverage
- Monitors workload metrics and compliance with patient care policy/procedures and regulations.
- Maintains appropriate staffing levels
- Provides clear direction and communication to employees within the department
- Maintains a limited clinical pharmacy practice in order to lead initiatives involving patient care, education, quality, research, and employee development.

- Promotes and maintains constructive intra and interdepartmental relationships by working collaboratively to develop and improve patient care outcomes
- Guides/directs resolution of service related, EHR and patient care tools issues
