    Description

    The Director, Grant Writing and Proposal Development will support the Senior Director, Sponsored Program & Government Grants Strategy by providing high level writing of government grant proposals and strategically linking funding opportunities with KPIs to further the mission of the organization. The Director will be responsible for managing a comprehensive grant submission process, conducting the full range of activities required to prepare and submit timely, accurate, compelling, polished proposals (including budgets) to government funding sources and foundations in collaboration with the Director of Foundation Relations. This includes tracking organization funding needs and strategy; prospect research and providing development support, in a team environment, with other fundraising and Association's initiatives and activities.

    Responsibilities

    Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Responsible for tracking of programmatic funding needs and grants fundraising strategy for the organization
    • Research prospective grant sources compatible with the Alzheimer's Association's mission, values, and programs in support of the organizations strategic and program goals and calendaring those prospects into the annual grant strategy.
    • Attend conferences and grant application training sessions hosted by funders, as necessary.
    • Coordinate the development of grant requests by establishing timelines that outline tasks, assignments, and deadlines; meet all deadlines; facilitate timely communications with program leadership; collect grant submission materials from Programs and Grant Administrators.
    • Communicate with the Director of Foundation Relations, Regional Leads, Donor Advisors, and Chapter Executives regarding application submissions.
    • Draft and edit high quality, compelling LOI's, grant proposals, grant reports, and acknowledgement letters.
    • Research and collect data and study findings to support grant proposals and reports. Special attention should be made in checking for completeness against grant instructions, spelling, grammar, and style; and to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements.
    • Format agency and departmental budgets to meet grant sources' budget requirements.
    • Copy, collate, package, and submit final grant materials per grant instructions, and within funder deadlines.
    • Respond to inquiries from funders and programs strategically and in a timely manner based on guidance from the Senior Director
    • Provide education and resources to Chapter and field staff through the development of references, facilitation of workshops, and training sessions.
    • Maintain a repository of grant proposals and resources made accessible to end users.
    • Establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with private grantors, corporate funders, and governmental agencies.
    • Reviews, summarizes, and tracks data on grant awards received in Workday and file formats.
    • Oversee and track all grant milestones including, but not limited to; proposals in development, proposals submitted to funders, proposals that have been issued or canceled, deliverable deadlines, communication and awards, ensuring that all content is complete and up to date at all times, and that calendar reminders are set up in Workday.
    • In collaboration with Snr Director, Chief Program Officer & Chapter Executives, develop an annual grants strategy.
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Alzheimer's Association program directors and staff.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 7 - 10 years grant writing and reporting experience in a government/non-profit setting
    • Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's degree preferred.
    • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
    • Minimum 5-10 years progressive, professional experience in sponsored programs and research administration, which may include a combination of pre-award and post-award experience

    • Strong written communication skills; demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals.
    • Desire to educate others on the proposal development process.
    • Attention to detail, strong editing and organization skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with federal policies, regulations, and guidelines pertains relating to grants and contracts, e.g. Uniform Guidance
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Experience with Workday preferred.

    Title: Director, Grant Writing and Proposal Development

    Position Location: Remote, US

    Full time based on 37.5 hours per week minimum

    Position Grade: 511, Exempt (Estimated annual salary range $110,000-$120,000)
