The Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking an experienced health scientist with a flair for writing to join our team as a Clinical Research Associate.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in communicating our research findings to a wide audience, including fellow scientists, policymakers, and the general public.

You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects spanning maternal health, chronic conditions, social determinants of health, and more.

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Scientific Writing: Produce highquality written content for peerreviewed journals, grant proposals, research reports, and other scientific publications.
  • Research Communication: Translate complex epidemiological concepts and findings into clear, engaging, and accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Grant Development: Assist in the development of grant proposals by providing expertise in epidemiological research design, methodology, and data analysis.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams of epidemiologists, statisticians, clinicians, and public health professionals to ensure accurate and compelling communication of research findings.
  • Peer Review: Participate in peer review processes for scientific journals and provide constructive feedback to enhance the quality of research manuscripts.
  • Knowledge Dissemination: Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through presentations at conferences, webinars, and other scientific forums.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, including graduate students and research assistants, in scientific writing and communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • PhD or equivalent degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of scientific writing, with a strong publication record in peerreviewed journals.
  • Expertise in epidemiological research methods, study design, and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex scientific concepts into clear and engaging written content.
  • Experience in grant writing and development is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced research environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and rigor in scientific communication.
  • Prior experience in mentoring junior researchers or students is an asset.
