The Program Director is in charge of program management, planning, and implementation of the Illinois YouthBuild Coalition (IYBC) grant. Under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Director will work with the Principal and the High School Leadership Team. The Program Director will work closely with the trainer/s and teachers to organize and manage the training aspects of the program. The Program Director is responsible for developing collaborative partnerships in the field and maintaining effective linkages with other agencies, including registered apprenticeship and trade programs. Ensures the quality and integration of all the components of the program i.e., academic, life and soft skills development (Mental Toughness), training and job placement. Prepares and submits all quarterly reports to IYBC, collects program data and will work with the school's leadership team to write program support grants, including the YouthBuild DOL grant. The program serves approximately 35 students.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, Masters preferred.
  • At least two years of workforce development experience. Open to learn and receive training related to the YouthBuild model. Must have a valid Illinois Driver's license and insurance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel in state and out of state if needed.
  • Pass background check and complete CPS mandated trainings.
  • Committed to youth leadership, empowerment, and ability to work sensitively and effectively with young people.

- reliant.

  • Act as an advocate and liaison between the youth, family, and the school community.
  • Demonstrated skills in program development.
  • Successful in creating collaborative relationships and partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills; and ability to relate to a wide range of issues, people, and institutions.
  • Understanding of the issues facing youth in the community where the program is located.
  • Excellent public speaking, listening and written communication skills.
  • Flexible and willing to work on Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities:

The Program Director is responsible for the YouthBuild Program at the school, ensuring a quality educational experience.

Professional duties, include but are not limited to the following:


  • Learn the YouthBuild program design model via the YouthBuild Manual and national resources from YouthBuild USA.
  • Implement the Program timeline
  • Access workforce resources.
  • Administer required placement testing for participants.
  • Navigate the WorkforceGPS website.
  • Meet recruitment participants based on the funder's contract.
  • Ability to work with the program team to accomplish program goals.
  • Facilitate team meetings, agenda preparation and "next step" work.
  • Participate in school wide meetings as scheduled by administrative staff.
  • Prepare and submit timely quarterly reports to IYBC and YB USA.
  • Collect program data to be uploaded to the YouthBuild portal.
  • Prepare status reports to the Principal and E.D. for the High School Board of Directors.
  • Build and maintain relations with community partners, employers, and apprenticeship programs.
  • Place students in post-secondary pathways, the trades or employment related fields.
  • Work with administrative staff and IYBC advisory board on planning and policy issues. Represent the program at IYBC Board meetings.
  • Establish and involve students in the YouthBuild council, including the development and documentation and a calendar of meetings and council activities.
  • Teach the Mental Toughness curriculum to the students.
  • Develop professional and supportive relationship with each student in the program,
  • Work with all school departments, i.e., Academic, Youth Development, Post-Secondary, etc. to integrate support for the program and assist the Principal to institutionalize the program and the program competencies across the school.
  • Supervise and work collaboratively with the program Case Manager and Construction Trainer to support participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
