Position Summary


Manager of Education provides mentoring, training and development to coordinator staff, teaching staff, site directors and others to support quality early childhood development programs.

Plans, monitors and implements program education components including overseeing disabilities and mental health programs, literacy coaches and paraprofessionals.

Responsibilities include education quality with Fidelity, CLASS preparation, curriculum technical assistance, Early Head Start and Head Start monitoring, Preschool for All and Preventive Initiative monitoring, screenings monitoring and NAEYC and Illinois State Standards monitoring, Gateways monitoring, collaborating with program partners, implementing ESL support, IEP support, establishing and implementing School Readiness Goals, attendance monitoring, COPA monitoring, aggregating data and reporting and modeling and feedback for teachers, teaching teams and site directors.

The Education Director is also the Transportation Manager. The Education Director is an instructional leader for the organization.


Duties & Responsibilities

Documentation:


  • Documents all classroom observations, teacher debriefs, screening schedules, technical assistance with Creative Curriculum and classroom environments using the SVR and QCIP forms.
  • Aggregates data and creates Checkpoint Outcome Reports quarterly.
  • Submits management reports monthly.
  • Submits staff evaluations annually.
  • Documents Coordinator meetings monthly.
  • Documents Reflective Supervision reports monthly.

Communication:


  • Provides professional development for staff during weekly team meetings and biannual inservices.
  • Facilitates professional development for staff through program partners and conferences.
  • Conducts postobservation debriefs with teaching teams, site directors and staff as needed.

Outreach, Community Relations and Partnerships:


  • Conduct center tours to outside visitors such as potential parents, licensing officials, Aldermen, auditors, grant funders and board members.
  • Research potential program and general operations grants, reach out to the funders, and engage them in funding Mary Crane, including scheduling meetings, conducting tours, writing and submitting grants, and ensuring grant compliance and reporting.
  • Participate in the development of communication and marketing materials for Mary Crane Center, including website and social media.
  • Research and investigate software options, and new program equipment and supplies for the classrooms.
  • Research and plan professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Research and plan field trips with teaching staff.
  • Work collaboratively with agency consultants and contractors to enrich educational program.

Job Requirements:


Education and/or Experience:


Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university, or Masters in a related field with teaching experience.

OR


Bachelor's degree in early childhood education from an accredited college or university or Bachelor's in a related field with teaching experience.

Gateways ECE Level 5

  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred.
