    Summary

    The Development Director for the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) programs serves as part of the Greater New York Metro chapter's senior leadership team. The Director is responsible for driving the strategic direction, management, and financial growth for the chapter's three P2P events: JDRF One Walks, JDRF Ride, Team JDRF endurance, and a variety of third-party programs. The Director holds relationships with key donors and volunteers, including the chapter's JDRF One Walk families and JDRF Ride team members, as well as corporate entities to drive engagement and fundraising. The Director is responsible for developing volunteer committee leadership structures within each P2P program. Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, and in partnership with the National P2P Teams and volunteer leadership, the Director oversees the $3.15 million P2P program fundraising goal.

    The Development Director leads a staff of four in office and remote staff to oversee the efforts for the P2P programs. The Director is responsible for meeting overall fundraising goals as well as individual budgets, oversee expenses of the program cultivate and steward donors, volunteers and corporate partners and community support. The Director develops and implements event logistics for all P2P programs and manages internal support as well as all vendors.

    In addition, this position is responsible for a variety of comprehensive development functions that correspond to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors. The Development Director maintains and grows a personal portfolio of individuals and businesses critical to the chapter's success. As part of the senior team, the Director provides input, guidance and strategic direction to help meet our annual goals and develop programs, pipelines and personal connections to grow our programs.

    This is a hybrid position, reporting to the Greater New York Metro chapter office in Manhattan a minimum of two days per week. The position must be based within the chapter footprint with an ability to commute to offices and to our constituents in the five boroughs, Long Island, Westchester County, Fairfield County and Hudson Valley.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership responsibility for integrating, coordinating, leveraging, and expanding a comprehensive revenue portfolio at the chapter:

    • Serves as a key member of the chapter's leadership team, with primary responsibility in developing and implementing the P2P program development strategy for the chapter.
    • Formulates, implements, and leads strategies and tactics for chapter fundraising and development activities in the P2P program specifically to sustain continued growth, maximum penetration of core market areas and opportunities for expansion where appropriate.
    • Supervises a team of four, contributing to staffing decisions and evaluations. Provides ongoing growth and development by motivating, developing, and directing staff as they work to achieve JDRF and chapter goals.
    • Collaborates with an outstanding chapter team as well as national staff resources to ensure core fundraising revenue targets are achieved.
    • Manages a portfolio of constituents and leads efforts for high-level donor cultivation and engagement plans that result in giving and chapter engagement.
    • Identifies and develops new opportunities with both existing donors as well as new prospects and provides excellent donor relationship management to key chapter stakeholders.
    • Provides fundraising coaching expertise to assigned portfolio focusing on fundraising best practices and tactics.
    • Meets registration and fundraising goals for JDRF One Walk, JDRF Ride, Team JDRF, and third-party events.
    • Avidly utilizes CRM platform (Salesforce) to track portfolio and moves management progress.
    • Provides frequent financial input including budget building, updates, forecasts, and revenue reports.
    • Recruits, manages, and continually develops donors and volunteers. Provides leadership, cultivation, acknowledgement, material support, and assistance in building and implementing annual plans around volunteer leadership.
    • Develops and actively manages a communications plan to engage and steward all participants
    • Identifies, builds, and stewards relationships with community, philanthropic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development.
    • Supports and maintains the vision, mission, priorities, and values of JDRF.
    • Communicates and sets expectations clearly and appropriately.
    • Establishes and maintains departmental and organization-wide policies and procedures and supports regional and national directives.
    • Represents the best interests, professionalism, and integrity of JDRF in all activities and relationships through a unified message of the JDRF mission and a commitment to organizational standards and leadership by personal example.
    • Supports other fundraising events, chapter activities and programs as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • 7 years of professional fundraising experience, with a clear record of success in fundraising and relationship management in a complex, mission-driven organization; 3+ years in a supervisory capacity. Passion for grassroots fundraising preferred.
    • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experienced with staff and volunteer management, including committee development and succession planning.
    • Demonstrated experience with fundraising and event management including budgeting and forecasting.
    • Team player that can interface with all levels of staff and volunteers; high capacity to assess the value, importance, and/or quality of activities and people.
    • Strong understanding of the moves management process.
    • Ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team; lead by example as a player-coach.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills. Ability to build rapport with participants, donors, volunteers, and the public.
    • Ability to develop, maintain and utilize relationships. Capability to leverage relationships and negotiate agreements. Familiarity with volunteer/staff partnerships.
    • Effectively multi-tasks, establishes priorities and works in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Ability to work on projects independently and have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong public speaking/presentation skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and Salesforce or other database platforms (Luminate Online and Greater Giving preferred).
    • Enjoys working on a team and is adaptable.
    • Ability to travel within the chapter footprint required and annual national conferences when requested.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work required to support all chapter events. Occasional overnight travel as needed.
    Target Salary: $96-105k
