Additional Information
At FEMA, our purpose is to assist individuals before, during, and after crises, and every FEMA team member plays a crucial role in emergency management. All FEMA personnel have regular emergency management obligations, although not all roles necessitate frequent deployment to disaster sites. All positions are liable to be recalled at any time for emergency management activities, which might result in irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and duties beyond those specified in the position description. The obligation to travel in support of emergency operations may be extensive (weeks to months), with limited notice, and could involve relocation to emergency sites with physically challenging conditions.
This posting is for a CORE (Cadre of On-Call Response/Recovery Employee) position. CORE members are full-time staff employed to directly aid in response and recovery efforts following disasters. Appointments to CORE roles typically last between two to four years and may be extended based on workload requirements and funding availability. These employees are engaged through a streamlined process rather than the traditional competitive process. After three years of continuous service, Stafford Act staff may attain competitive eligibility to apply for permanent full-time roles at FEMA.
FEMA is dedicated to ensuring that its workforce mirrors the diversity of the nation. At FEMA, our staff comprises individuals from various identities, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, abilities, ages, cultures, and beliefs of the people we assist. For information on FEMA's ongoing diversity and inclusion initiatives, reasonable accommodation procedures, and the FEMA Core Values, please visit the official website.
