    Job Title: Head of Commercial Strategy and Business Operations

    Location: Remote/San Diego

    Background

    RayzeBio (RB) is a dynamic biotechnology company headquartered in San Diego, CA. Launched in late 2020 and recently acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as a wholly owned subsidiary, the company is focused on improving survival of people with cancer by harnessing the power of targeted radioisotopes. RayzeBio operates as a standalone entity within the BMS organization, maintaining its biotech culture with the opportunity to leverage the best-in-class oncology capabilities of BMS. RayzeBio is developing innovative drugs against targets of solid tumors. The lead asset, RYZ101, is in Phase 3 testing for patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), as well as earlier stage testing for patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Led by a successful and experienced entrepreneurial team, RayzeBio aims to be the global leader in radiopharmaceuticals.

    Summary

    The Head of Commercial Strategy and Business Operations is an executive-level member of an entrepreneurial leadership team with a shared vision to build the leading radiopharmaceutical company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in oncology and possess a deep knowledge of oncology commercialization, operations, and clinical development. This individual must have a proven ability to take products from clinical to commercial stage within both large pharma and biotechnology companies. The role requires an accomplished and confident leader with hands-on experience building and leading matrixed teams toward development milestones up to and through product launch. This individual will ultimately be responsible for building the right-sized commercial organization for RB while also acting as the Chief of Staff to the President of RB. The role is expected to serve as a liaison between the Bristol Myers Squibb commercial, development and senior leaderships teams in Princeton, NJ and RayzeBio in San Diego, CA with significant travel required between both. It requires the ability to navigate between the culture of small biotech while integrating with a broader corporate structure. Optimal candidates should have hands-on experience working within both of these environments. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented and directly responsible for helping to foster a culture that emphasizes cooperation, teamwork and respect.

    Job Responsibilities

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    • Establish optimal operating model between RB & BMS to preserve the biotech culture of RB and leverage the knowledge and resources of BMS. Implement functional ways of working which are mutually beneficial to both RB & BMS while creating a competitive advantage within the market.


    • Provide institutional knowledge for RLT market landscape and trends, major product developments, trial outcomes, and competitor activity to inform the strategic direction and financial opportunity for RB assets


    • Collaborate with key RB & BMS stakeholders to inform target selection and to pursue optimal clinical development opportunities for prioritized targets


    • Direct the execution of a fully integrated commercial business plan. Accountable for commercial leadership of forecast model, target product profiles, market opportunities and portfolio prioritization for pipeline assets


    • Work closely with the President of RB to lead the implementation and communication of RB's overall strategic business plan


    • Support to senior leadership on governance-related matters, including RB-BMS Leadership Team. Act as key point of contact between the President of RB and internal/external stakeholders


    • Ultimately responsible to build a commercial/sales team responsible for launching and fully commercializing the lead asset once approved. This individual will implement a comprehensive go-to-market strategy covering all commercial aspects including positioning, messaging, and pricing and build a team to address those needs.


    • 25%+ travel expected

    Education and Experience


    • Minimum 15+ years oncology therapeutic experience within commercialization and development required. Solid tumor experience required; radiopharmaceutical experience a plus.


    • Bachelor's degree or above in a scientific discipline. Keen interest in novel technologies and data-driven decision making


    • Product launch leadership experience within oncology required.


    • Deep knowledge of current therapies and treatment dynamics across multiple solid tumors within oncology required.


    • Experience building and leading lean, effective departments within biotech and large pharma settings.


    • Demonstrated ability to build and lead diverse, high-performing cross-functional corporate teams and a record of accomplishing goals in small biotech settings. Demonstrated ability to navigate relationship with large parent company.


    • Demonstrated ability to engage a diversity of stakeholders across topics and form trusted relationships.


    • Experience counseling, developing, and supporting C-suite leadership.

    • High EQ, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to motivate and drive productivity in small company environments.


    • Ability to lead without direct report structures.
