    Payroll Specialist/Accountant - Anaheim, United States - Eastridge Workforce Solutions

    Eastridge Workforce Solutions has partnered with a leading independent certified public accounting and consulting firm to find an experienced Payroll/Accounting Specialist. In this unique role, you will oversee payroll functions, support general accounting tasks, and assist in HR and new employee onboarding functions. We are seeking an individual with a strategic mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for efficiency.

    Responsibilities:

    Payroll:

    • Oversee all payroll functions and processing.
    • Ensure adherence to internal controls and system reviews.
    • Verify accuracy of each payroll prior to submission.
    • Review, analyze, post, and reconcile payroll records and transactions.
    • Review and reconcile payroll and tax reports for federal, state, and local agencies.
    • Support employees with payroll and benefits inquiries.
    • Prepare general ledger entries and post payroll adjustments.
    • Maintain payroll guidelines by updating policies and procedures.
    • Improve payroll processes to increase efficiency.
    • Manage weekly timecard submissions for payroll compliance.
    Accounting:
    • Assist in general accounting functions including A/P, A/R, and G/L.
    • Perform general accounting entries and treasury/cash reporting.
    • Work closely with in-house accountant to issue 1099s and prepare other required filings.
    • Assist Controller with year-end activities such as deferred expenses, accruals, and financial statement audits.
    • Gather documentation and coordinate audits as needed.
    Human Resources:
    • Aid in the onboarding process including new hire setup and orientation administration.
    • Attend college campus recruiting events with HR Director.
    • Assist with corporate initiatives and party planning events.
    • Support ad hoc projects as needed.
    Qualifications:
    • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information.
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or comparable experience.
    • Previous general ledger/accounting experience in a mid-size or large company is preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in technology, organization, and adaptability to change.
    • Extensive knowledge of full-cycle in-house payroll management.
    • Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to work independently.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on exceptional customer service.
    • Software skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; experience with Paycom software is a plus.
