    Description


    The Director, Sales – Mean Green is responsible for leading and directing the sales team to achieve short and long-range strategic objectives through successful planning and execution of sales strategies for the OPE channel with emphasis on the commercial electric mowing category.

    The Director Sales is responsible for the entire range of sales planning and development, sales promotion, and sales activities.

    This role drives market/field/end user input back to the organization to improve positioning with programs, product development, and end user support.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Designs and directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development.

    Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved.

    Drives the market/field/end user input back to the Generac organization to improve positioning with programs, product development and end user support.

    Establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

    Achieves margin objectives, by providing input on pricing strategy for all products and markets with the goal of achieving margin objectives established.

    Tracks specific customer profitability, promotional allowances and terms to meet the company's objectives.
    Grows sales of existing and new products through strengthened account relationships, including penetration into customers' management and executive levels.
    Works with Marketing teams to integrate the market development strategies into overall marketing and branding strategies and activities.
    Establishes and maintains critical industry contacts representing the company to key customers.
    Plans for and oversees sales meetings, trade shows and hosts site-visits for key business partners.

    Incorporates Generac's customer focused values and concepts of quality into the determination, communication, review and continuous improvement of the customer support functions and planning process.

    Reviews performance metrics, reports and develop action plans to ensure performance targets are met through the continuous improvement process.
    Conducts monthly operational reviews on key customer support issues, performance reports, and competitive pricing and promotion analysis.

    Provides strategic and operational input to Product Development and Engineering, controls budgets for responsible areas, and ensure that customer goals are met.

    Develops and manages sales and operating budgets.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimal Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising sales teams

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Preferred previous experience within the Outdoor Power Equipment industry (Dealers and Distribution)
    Proven success in developing and fostering business relationships within the OPE Channel
    Experience managing a field-based sales team with the ability to travel nationally within the OPE dealer Network.

    Knowledge/Skills:
    Clear understanding and knowledge of the internal processes and systems to support the accounts, proven business planning, budgeting, and P&L skills
    Advanced negotiation skills
    Complex account management skills
    Ability to analyze financials
    Excellent presentation skills
    Excellent organizational skills
    Strategic and complex selling
    Working knowledge of the dynamics between distribution channel, dealer network, and the subsequent end user.
    Demonstrated ability to establish and direct successful sales team metrics and KPIs

    Physical demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.

    The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

    Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Occasional travel. Up to 50% travel and valid Driver's License required.
