    Description

    Mavuno Harvest is a fast-growing natural foods brand located in Philadelphia. Started by a former Peace Corps volunteer, our mission is to increase incomes for small scale farmers internationally by purchasing their full harvests.

    We now seek an experienced Operations Manager who will help lead our operation into the future. We want to double in two years and will need your expertise to make it happen

    Position Overview: As the Operations Manager at Mavuno Harvest, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing and supply chain operations. You will be responsible for coordinating various aspects of production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to strategic decision-making, process improvement initiatives, and the continuous advancement of our operational capabilities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Production Management:

    • Lead and supervise production teams to achieve production targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
    • Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring optimal resource utilization and timely order fulfillment.
    • Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to enhance efficiency and productivity.

    Supply Chain Coordination:

    • Collaborate with procurement to manage inventory levels and procurement schedules.
    • Oversee logistics operations, including inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
    • Utilize inventory management systems to optimize inventory turnover and minimize stockouts and excess inventory.

    Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
    • Coordinate with relevant regulatory agencies to maintain certifications and licenses necessary for operation.

    Process Improvement:

    • Continuously analyze operational processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
    • Implement Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and reduce waste.
    • Lead cross-functional teams in executing process improvement projects, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

    Team Development and Leadership:

    • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, set performance goals, and provide feedback to team members to support their professional development and growth.
    • Promote a safe and inclusive work environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and fostering diversity and inclusion within the team.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and quality assurance principles.
    • Experience using a multi-head weigher.
    • Experience leading teams and leading growth initiatives.
    • Proficiency in utilizing ERP systems, inventory management software, and other relevant tools for operations management.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement initiatives and achieve operational excellence.
    • Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FDA regulations) is desirable.
    • Experience working in international settings or with agricultural supply chains in developing countries is a plus.
