    Summary



    This position is for an
    Inpatient Medical Support Assistants (MSAs) assigned to Omaha VAMC Inpatient Wards, are responsible for performing a variety of technical support duties that facilitate the work of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nursing assistants, and other members of the medical facility who provide direct patient care.

    Duties




    **PLEASE NOTE: ALTHOUGH THIS ANNOUNCEMENT REMAINS OPEN UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2024, WE WILL BEGIN SCREENING APPLICANTS ON NOVEMBER 1, 2023. WE WILL DO SUBSEQUENT SCREENINGS UP UNTIL THE ANNOUNCEMENT CLOSES AS NEW VACANCIES BECOME AVAILABLE.

    Major duties include (but not limited to):

    • Responsible for the overall coordination of patient admissions, discharges and transfers
    • Duties include appointment scheduling, consult tracking, verification of doctor's orders and treatment orders
    • Enter patient information in VISTA, CPRS, Bed Management, and the electronic gains and losses sheet
    • Receive facetoface and phone requests and orders with varying degrees of urgency
    • Work effectively under fast pace, rapid response situations, and changing conditions
    • Safeguard patient health information
    • Insure data is properly used and stored
    • Request forms and records
    • General administrative functions of the unit
    • Copy and store necessary forms
    • Maintain office equipment
    • Other duties as assigned

    Work Schedule:
    Intermittent-variable shifts.

    May include but not limited to Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday are 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

    Minimum of 8 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

    This occupational series is eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP), and participation is available for highly qualified candidates. Participants must sign a service agreement and maintain an acceptable level of performance to remain eligible for this program.
