    Job Overview:


    The People & Culture Manager oversees all aspects of human resources functions, encompassing learning and development, employee database management, fostering a positive organizational culture, managing relationships with colleagues, administering payroll and benefits, talent acquisition, performance management, and facilitating onboarding and offboarding processes.

    This role is pivotal in ensuring the alignment of organizational practices with the values and objectives of the company. The People & Culture Manager reports directly to the Director of People & Culture.


    Position Responsibilities:


    Facilitate the recruitment process by posting job openings, sending offer letters, and coordinating onboarding activities to ensure a seamless integration of new hires.

    Act as a key liaison between managers and new seasonal colleagues, providing support and guidance from initial communication through the first 90 days of employment.

    Support payroll functions to assist the People & Culture Coordinator and Payroll Manager, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

    Serve as the primary custodian for colleague data management and records recovery, utilizing ADP and internal platforms for efficient data handling.

    Address employment-related inquiries from colleagues and managers, escalating complex or sensitive matters to the Director of People & Culture.
    Conduct thorough and objective investigations into workplace issues as needed, fostering a fair and equitable work environment.
    Manage internal promotion and transfer policies in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
    Provide day-to-day performance management support to managers, offering coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, and career development guidance.
    Administer colleague benefit programs and address inquiries regarding healthcare benefits, time off benefits, and other related benefits.
    Assist with benefit administration tasks, including enrollment approval, plan inquiries, open enrollment, and eligibility tracking.
    Research and recommend technological solutions to enhance HR processes and support colleagues effectively.
    Handle inquiries related to company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and the employee handbook, ensuring clarity and adherence.
    Spearhead manager and colleague engagement initiatives, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
    Collaborate independently and within a team on special projects and ongoing initiatives, serving as project manager when required.
    Manage workers' compensation policies and procedures, including medical treatment assistance, claims submission, and leave management.

    Oversee the leave of absence process for leaves covered by federal and state laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.

    Compile and submit reports for various purposes related to People & Culture and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    Develop safety programming in collaboration with relevant departments to ensure a safe work environment.
    Implement People & Culture programs aimed at engaging teams, promoting learning, and fostering cultural understanding.
    Work with the People & Culture Director to maintain the company's annual internal communication and training program calendar.
    Undertake additional administrative responsibilities and projects as necessary to support organizational objectives.


    Qualification Standards:

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in a HR-related field (Master's degree preferred)
    Human Resources Certification(s) preferred

    Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years of work experience in various HR roles
    5+ years of related administrative experience
    Experience with HR Information systems and other relevant platforms
    Familiarity with payroll processes
    Preferred experience in the hospitality industry and working in a union environment

    Skills:
    Proficiency in federal, state (California), and local employment laws
    Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
    Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs
    Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills
    Strong passion for fostering positive colleague experiences and teamwork
    Ability to represent HR and the organization positively and enthusiastically
    Organizational astuteness and strong people skills
    Analytical ability to assess organizational and human behavioral characteristics and motivations

    Physical Demands:
    Ability to sit at a desk for at least 8 hours per day, with occasional walking and standing required
    Requires manual dexterity for tasks such as grasping, writing, and repetitive motions
    Must have adequate listening, hearing, and visual acuity abilities

    Grooming:
    All colleagues must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in adherence to company standards.
