Description

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is responsible for keeping New York City clean, safe, and healthy. They work on collecting, recycling, and disposing of waste, cleaning streets and vacant lots, and clearing snow and ice.

DSNY is the largest municipal sanitation agency in the nation, with a team of nearly 10, employees, 59 district garages, and a fleet of over 5, trucks, cars, and various other equipment.

The Department's duties include clearing litter, snow, and ice from around 6, miles of City streets, removing debris from vacant lots, and towing abandoned vehicles.

Working under general supervision, this role involves moderately challenging tasks related to procurement of goods, services, and construction. The role requires preparing procurement documents, managing contracts, and coordinating with staff throughout the procurement process.

Primary Responsibilities:

Preparing solicitation documents for various procurement methods, with a focus on capital projects.
Developing descriptions and specifications for routine requirement/system contracts.
Reviewing capital project solicitation documents for conformity and making recommendations.
Analyzing vendors' and contractors' performance and financial status.
Making recommendations for contract awards and ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
Participating in bid analysis, sample examination, and vendor investigations.
Assisting with the City's procurement systems and providing guidance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A bachelor's degree and six months of professional experience in procurement; or
2. An associate degree and 18 months of procurement experience; or
3. A high school diploma and two and a half years of procurement experience; or
4. Equivalent education/experience combination.

SPECIAL NOTES:

Candidates must meet additional experience requirements for higher-level placements.

Preferred Skills:

Only candidates with a Procurement Analyst title or similar civil service title will be considered for an interview.

This position is open to individuals eligible for the 55-a Program.
