Director of Learning Support ProgramStarting School Year
The Foote School is seeking a Director of Learning Support Program beginning in September 2024. The Foote School is an independent K-9 co-ed day school in New Haven, Connecticut.
We aim to endow students with timeless values while providing the thoughtful experiences that will prepare them to learn, lead, and grow in the 21st century.

The successful candidates will be a nurturing flexible person with a strong background in intervention and with a deep understanding of the developmental needs of children and neurodiversity.
They should be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and peers as well as be able to employ a variety of instructional techniques to engage young learners.
They will have a commitment to our schools mission, to working collaboratively with others, and to upholding the values of the school community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the development and delivery of the Learning Support Program, recruiting, hiring and supervising LSP faculty in collaboration with the Division Heads.
Oversee the schedule for service and assign tutors to identified students.
Plan and lead parent conferences for students who are receiving tutorial services, have received outside evaluations and/or have extensive test histories.
Advise administrators on appropriate accommodations for students who have received educational and neuropsychological assessments.Assist faculty in the implementation of appropriate accommodations and provide professional development as needed.
Attend biweekly Health Team Meetings.
Share information about appropriate research-based teaching and learning methods with faculty and parents.
Coordinate the schools standardized testing program in grades five through nine.
Support the Admissions Department with assessing and scoring candidates
Consult with the Admissions Department on learning profiles as needed
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Professional Skills and Personal Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education and/or Learning Differences; Master's degree is preferred.
Proven training and experience in the Orton-Gillingham and/or the Wilson Methods.
Demonstrated leadership skills and capacity.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Comfort with a variety of technological applications (Google Suite, Veracross)
Ability to exercise sound judgement and work effectively with personnel, students, and families
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and embrace change in support of the organizations mission and goals
Maintain confidentiality of all school information
Ability to prioritize and work under deadlines
Appreciate diversity and demonstrate cultural competence
Flexible, nimble thinker, thoughtful and efficient problem solver, strong ability to look ahead and plan effectively, and deftly anticipate and avoid roadblocks
Joy for life, trustworthy, kind, and approachable, sense of humor, and morally upstanding
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary ranges from $65,000-$90,000.
