    Director, Global Compensation - New York, United States - Assurant

    As the Director of Global Compensation, you will provide leadership in the design and implementation of global broad-based and variable compensation programs that support talent strategy around the globe. This includes leading compensation initiatives and partnering with the People Organization and business leaders to develop competitive compensation programs aligning with Assurant's global compensation philosophy. Provides compensation partner support to select businesses and global coverage in select geographies.

    What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

    • Partners with PBP/PP and business leaders to define business issues, assess situations, and identify, select, and implement solutions. Provides guidance on job structures, job families, career progression, job titles, etc.
    • Consult with the People Business Partner/People Partners and managers on compensation policy and guidance, compensation-related best practices, and compensation data and decisions, including salary offers for new hires, promotions, and transfers, utilizing internal and external data for domestic and any designated global coverage.
    • Manages the planning, development, and implementation of innovative, competitive, and cost-effective incentive compensation programs to ensure the ability to attract, retain, and reward employees. Facilitates the evaluation of current compensation programs and the annual review process and recommends improvements. Remains current with market trends and practices among competitors to inform the design of compensation programs.
    • Manages the incentive framework (template, design guidelines, checklist) and communicates changes to the PBP/PP community. Maintains the incentive inventory and program summary database, ensuring each program's summary exists. Creates and manages approaches, processes, and tools to assess the effectiveness of incentive programs, identify issues, and develop action plans to address issues.
    • Conducts job reviews/grade assignments for assigned businesses using market data and internal comparison to determine the appropriate grade and pay range and FLSA status as appropriate. Partners with PBP/PP and/or managers to better understand the role and ensure appropriate benchmarking is utilized in market pricing.
    • Conduct additional analytics and reporting including, but not limited to, accruals, modeling, salary structures, job architecture, pay mix, equity compensation, audits, and market data.
    • Lead designated special compensation projects covering all compensation aspects and our evolving compensation philosophy.
    • People leader and role model for junior talent across the total rewards and people organization team. Develop a high-performing team and guide junior team members by providing coaching, guidance, and learning opportunities to support ongoing development and growth.
    • You will have one direct report within the Compensation team.
    What are the requirements needed for this position?
    • A minimum of 7 years of experience in broad-based and sales incentive compensation programs within a US publicly traded company.
    • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Experienced in conceptualizing business issues, determining their relevance, determining a methodology for exploring the situation, defining alternative ways of addressing the issues, and developing recommendations and strategies for addressing the issues.
    • Strong knowledge of compensation theory, principles, design, practices, and the regulatory environment surrounding compensation.
    • Strong knowledge in the design and management of incentive programs and the administration of those programs.
    • Advanced user of Excel to analyze data.
    • Proven analytical skills, including the ability to analyze various data, determine validity, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and present such clearly, concisely, and easily understandable.

    • Problem-solving and thinking outside the box; Ability to question the status quo.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
    • Self-starter with the ability to drive results.
    • Financial background (either via education or job experience)
    • Demonstrated ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment with many new challenges. Highly proficient at adjusting to varying demands and multiple deliverables; can pivot quickly when change occurs.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with employees and build strong relationships with internal departments and outside vendors.
    • Intellectual curiosity - a genuine desire to learn, grow and develop.
    • Familiarity with Sales Compensation Commissions Software is a plus
    How much should I expect to travel?
    • Up to 5% travel annually.

    Pay Range:
    $116, $195,300.00

    Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
