ACCOUNTABILITY: PROGRAM MANAGER STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
SHIFT: 2nd Wed-Sat
JOB SUMMARY:
This position works at our Cottage program for latency age boys.
The Residential Shift Supervisor serves as an inspirational mentor to staff, and working with young children/adolescence with emotional and behavioral needs. Under the direction of the Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager, the Shift Supervisor will act as the lead residential worker while assuming the leadership and supervisory responsibilities for the assigned shift. Primarily, the Residential Shift Supervisor is to act as the lead direct care work and to assist the Program Manager in the operational activities of the staff and residence.
This position will work in the Start Program for adolescent girls designed to address the unique issues facing teenage girls today. The initial primary focus is creating a creating a safe and secure environment the for the youth.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUCTIONS1 Assist in seeing that the daily residence schedule and program established by the program manager is carried out.
2 Assumes responsibility for the residential program in the absence of the program manager.
3 Assist the program manager in developing the residence schedule and staff coverage as directed.
4 Assist in insuring that the treatment plans for the children are implemented.
5 Assist the program manager insuring that the physical facilities are properly cared for by the staff and children.
6 Assume staff supervisory responsibility at the request of the program manager.
7 Works with families around issues of communication, parenting skills, conflict resolution skills, behavior management, home management, cultural diversity, and chemical dependency.
8 Assist in the timely preparation of reports as needed.
9 Attend and participate in conferences, CORES, team meetings, etc, at the request of the program manager.
10 Assist in staff training when needed on shift.
11 Assist in the development of summer programs or new programs at the request of the program manager.
12 Assume the responsibility of the beeper at the request of the program manager.
13 Administer medications under MAPS guidelines, and provide the supervision and follow-up of the distribution of medication.
14 Demonstrate an awareness of agency policies, practices, and procedures and follow all rules and regulations of the Agency.
15 Demonstrate a continued awareness and commitment to cultural diversity, religious and personal values, traditions
of persons served and their families in order to accomplish the mission of the organization.
16 Utilize/perform appropriate and approved therapeutic restraint techniques with clients when deemed necessary.
17 Any other related duties requested by the program manager as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates degree in human services or related field preferred; or equivalent of two years child care experience in the residential setting.
2. Requires Massachusetts MAPS (Medication Administration) certification (to be obtained within the first 60 days of employment).
3. Requires the knowledge of residential milieu concepts.
4. Requires the ability to work in a team treatment approach.
5. Requires current driver's license.
6. Requires the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. May require moderate to frequent occasions for restraint or activities with children/adolescents that could cause risk of injury, discomfort, or potential harm.
2. Requires considerable physical agility to be able to perform restraints.
3. May require moderate periods of sitting, bending, standing, and climbing when performing duties.
