    General Description

    We are looking to add an energetic and dedicated person to work directly with our Chief Student & Enrollment Officer. The Academic, Enrichment, and Engagement Coordinator will support our internal and external academic, enrichment, and engagement programs that serve our METCO students. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for the details of managing organizational systems that track and manage programs, as well as a public-facing persona that is approachable and comfortable forging partnerships and leading workshops and meetings as necessary. This candidate will also be aware of the needs of our students and will seek and implement programs to match those needs.

    Key Responsibilities
    Under the leadership of the Chief Student Services and Enrollment Officer, the Academic, Enrichment, and Engagement Coordinator will support METCO students and families through:

    Academic:

    • Creating and building educational partnerships that lead to greater resources and support for students
    • Ongoing development, oversight, and implementation of academic programs that build academic skills and help to close achievement gaps.
    • Day-to-day management of academic and enrichment programs, including creating registration and interest forms and applications, conducting information sessions, and documenting procedures
    • Assist in the set up of summer school via securing location and food, academic and recreational resources, youth interns, etc.
    • Oversee the regular use of the onsite computer lab, i.e., utilizing college students to staff it, scheduling various uses by districts, and selecting educational software.

    Enrichment:

    • Occasional facilitation of educational and enrichment workshops
    • Recruitment, onboarding, training, and matching of academic mentors for Homework Club
    • Work with tutoring partners to provide tutorial programming, virtual or in-person
    • Coordinate a variety of enrichment programs via external partnerships and volunteers

    • Oversee Teen Ambassadors Program (TAP) by facilitating workshops to teens around leadership, community organizing, and research skills to elevate youth voices and challenge systems of oppression via final presentations. These could include different modes of expression, such as art, dance, writing, digital media, photography, and panel discussions.

    Engagement:

    • Oversee METCO Presents calendar, i.e., book shows, events, and artist talks, manage invitations, host events, and provide audience and cost reporting details for funders.
    • Train youth to facilitate and personally lead tours of our Headquarters exhibit space and Nubian Square sites for relevant groups.
    • Design and manage resource fairs that support enrichment, after-school, and summer programming

    Admin:

    • Evaluation of program effectiveness via program check-ins, pre and post-surveys, and evaluations with support from the Development and Evaluation Manager
    • Maintain current and accurate records of services provided, update databases, and prepare periodic reports.
    • Support all student services programming as needed, i.e., filling in during short staff days and facilitating direct service programming.
    • Support the creation of a resource database and department newsletters to be blasted to parents/families via email.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required; related degrees preferred: Education, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work.
    • This position is 100% in-person.
    • Work hours will vary, including some evenings and weekends for programming needs or events
    • Experience working with youth
    • 1+ years experience working in non-profit programming preferred
    • Knowledge of programming that addresses education, health, and economic disparities among diverse populations
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with internal and external partners
    • Prior oversight experience with academic support and tutorial programs is a plus
    • Collaborative work style
    • Experience with Google Suite, online research, databases, and Salesforce a plus
    • Comfort with fast-paced work environment, adaptability to change, embrace feedback, multi-tasking, meeting deadlines
    • Ability to provide self-direction to accomplish work assignments and goals
    • Strong communication skills (written, oral) and frequent communication with supervisor
    • Outgoing personality
    • Ability to motivate students
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) and/or (Haitian Creole/English) preferred
    • Cultural competence (experience and ability to work with diverse populations)

    Must have flexibility with schedule and ability to work some evenings and weekends.

    Work Schedule: Fully in-person

    • When no Saturday programs are in session:
      • Monday-Friday 11-7pm
    • When Saturday programs are in session:
      • T-Th 10:30-7, Saturdays 9-2pm with choice of Monday or Friday off (must work one of these days)

    Salary range: $55,000 to $57,500/year plus benefits.
