    Store Support Associate (Food Department)


    Marukai Markets dba TOKYO CENTRAL is one of the fastest-growing chain of retail stores and supermarkets offering the widest selection of Japanese and Hawaiian imported grocery and retail products in the nation.

    Customers are provided with a variety of products that you won't find in a typical grocery store environment. Fresh, seasonal, and variety of foods are our passionWe're immediately hiring associates for our Food department.

    Experienced Retail Associates, Baggers, and Stockers are Needed *This is a summary of some key duties and physical requirements and is not intended to be a complete job description.

    Benefits/Perks Employee Discounts Paid Sick Leave Health Insurance Supplemental Insurance available for Life and Disability Insurance 401 K (after one year)ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Food Department (Retail Associates) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to)Organizes and stocks Food display areas per store's layouts, planograms and standards Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Food Department Ensures Food is handled, stocked, rotate and merchandised Checks temperature for damage and unacceptable quality, follows established return procedures with immediate supervisorAbility to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate Food products per Marukai' standards Proactively supports any promotional activity within the store and contributes to an effective working environment Breaking down pallets, separating Food products for sales floor, cooler and/or back room prep area Processing and/or wrapping Food products Maintains a well-organized back stock/cooler areaEnsures that all Food products are in it's right place, so shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily Maintains good communication with store management, associates and suppliers/vendors Serves as a back-up for the Food Department and in other departments as needed Stocking empty shelves and helps customer service department when the line gets very busy Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep Notifies immediate supervisor of out of stock products Notifies immediate supervisor of price discrepancies Must be knowledgeable of merchandise placement and location
    Must clean and sanitize work areasCustomer Service:
    Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques Meets or exceeds Department's sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor Ensures a safe and clean work environment

    Cross Training:

    Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.

    Perform other tasks that would be instructed by Department Manager or Store Manager around the floor during busy times of the dayQUALIFICATIONS:

    High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.

    Must be able to use job related equipment such as a stepping ladder and dollies No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred Previous experience as a Retail Associate, Stocker, or Bagging Clerk is preferred Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aidREQUIREMENTS Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service Able to read, write, and do simple math problems Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management Ability to interact with all levels of management Must be able to operate pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machinePossess a food handling license or the ability to acquire oneMarukai is an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in E Verify.
