- Implement and execute an annual fundraising plan to support areas of emphasis as assigned by HCI and the President of HCF.
This includes identifying, cultivating, qualifying, and soliciting gifts from major and principal gift prospects and ongoing cultivation of existing donors.
An essential focus will be building and maintaining a sustainable major gift pipeline of prospects, including grateful patients and their families, philanthropists, foundations, and corporations. - Participate cooperatively in the Foundation's prospect management and tracking system, maintain accurate donor records, and achieve competency with Raiser's Edge and NXT.
- Use Raiser's Edge and NXT to improve fundraising efficiency and total dollars raised through workflow management, data-driven decision-making, portfolio management, tracking of key metrics, and ensuring fundraising team coordination and alignment across the organization.
- Direct and lead specific fundraising strategies, reviewing and implementing changes when needed to achieve goals and objectives.
- Build a strong relationship with the HCI clinicians, researchers, and staff leaders.
- Prepare written proposals, endowment agreements, and informational materials for prospects and donors to secure gifts.
- Monitor gift accounts, including endowed and expendable funds, to ensure they are executed in accordance with donors' gift agreements.
- Work with Disease Center leaders at HCI regarding donor relations, grateful patient cultivation, and philanthropic support for HCI.This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Four years of development/advancement or related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the job's essential functions outlined in the position description.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in development/advancement, with a proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward major and leadership gifts at the six and seven-figure levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely present information to varied audiences within HCI, the university, and the community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of development/advancement principles.
- Applied knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other CRM software.
- Understanding of all development areas (principal, major, annual, and legacy giving, as well as corporate and foundation relations).
- Understanding of multi-faceted campaign planning, implementation, and management.

The DOD seeks philanthropic support for the clinical, research, and education missions of Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). This highly visible position will manage relationships with a portfolio of donors with the capacity to make major gifts. The DOD will build philanthropic support by engaging and involving community members, patients, their families, philanthropists, foundations, and corporations.The DOD will execute an annual advancement work plan focused on best practices, including goals, metrics, and philanthropic priorities, leading to the procurement of financial support for HCI and work to implement effective strategies and collaborative partnerships that will lead to long-term relationships and significant gift support from prospective donors.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
Five years experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, business, public relations, annual, corporate or foundation giving which includes two years of budgeting and supervisory experience.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.Experience in grant or proposal writing, public speaking, a background working with print and/or electronic media, an understanding of university fundraising practices and personnel management is preferred.
