    JOB PURPOSE:
    The Director for Undergraduate Education for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
    is responsible for assisting the Chair with the accreditation self-study report, advise juniors and
    seniors, and the determination of course assignments. The Director for Undergraduate Education
    reports to the Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

    SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
    None.

    NATURE AND SCOPE:
    Primary internal contacts would include the students, staff, faculty, and interim chair of the
    Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Determining course approvals, in consultation with the appropriate committee(s).

    • Advising juniors and seniors on all academically related matters such as their program of
    study,

    • Managing students requests to take and transfer courses from other institutions,

    • Manage student requests to take courses specifically through the consortium, and

    • Assist the interim chair with all ABET accreditation related activities and work in concert with
    the CEE faculty.

    • Assessing and evaluating the effectiveness and quality of courses offered by the department, in
    concert with the appropriate committee(s).

    • Evaluating transfer credits, in consultation with the appropriate faculty members.


    • Organizing and overseeing curricular revisions, in consultation with the appropriate
    committee(s).
    CORE COMPETENCIES:

    • Knowledge of ABET accreditation requirements.

    • Understanding of the curriculum, and university academic policies and procedures.

    • Expertise in one of the four core areas in civil and environmental engineering: environmental
    engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, and structures.

    • Documented performance in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Doctorate or its equivalent in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related
    fields.

    • Evidence of successful teaching in higher education.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Leadership experience within the profession or higher education.
