The School of Information Sciences, BAU, is seeking highly qualified applicants for a full-time faculty position to teach in one or more of these fields of study (i.e., Big Data Analytics, Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, and AI Engineering).

BAU is in the heart of the greater Washington DC area, one of the largest growing technology communities in the country.

We are seeking a team member with competencies and experience in the disciplines who theoretically and practically understands emerging information technology and integrates innovation into teaching and scholarly interests.

The School of Information Sciences has a diverse faculty in terms of gender and nationalities who are willing to teach a diverse set of students at the bachelor's and master's levels.


BAU expects its faculty to teach high-quality courses on current in-trend topics online and face-to-face, focusing on knowledge and practical skills.

Faculty will have opportunities to work with students in one-on-one, classroom, and lab sessions in the University's centric and agile environment.

The School of Information Sciences is committed to preparing students with hands-on experiences for career eligibility in various IT sectors, including established IT companies and government agencies.


Essential Functions:

Duties and Responsibilities:

The full-time faculty will provide instruction across multiple areas and will be required to:

  • Teach 30 credits per annum, contracted for 190 days (38 weeks).
  • Be present on campus at a minimum of thirtyfive (35) hours per week, including the five (5) posted office hours per week.
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor for students studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Assist in a variety of admissions and recruitment events for the school.
  • Participate in the university community and assigned committee, including attending all required meetings such as program oversight meetings, campus effectiveness meetings, strategic planning meetings, general staff meetings, and university convocation.
  • Involve in additional school activities, including curriculum revisions, guest speaker presentations, and collaboration with local businesses and community as necessary.
  • Prepare lecture content.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to deliver the course content.
  • Engage in assessing student learning and advising students at the undergraduate level.
  • Collaborate with colleagues.
  • Continue professional development in scholarship, teaching, and community service.
  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge of the course content.
  • Work with the department chair and faculty in the department to develop or enhance the curricula to ensure their quality with the change in the technology workforce.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Expectations:

Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed.

Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public.

Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position.

**Education and Experience Requirements: - Master's degree (required) in Big Data Analytics, Data Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, AI Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, awarded or expected in Fall 202- Doctorate or terminal degree (preferred) in Big Data Analytics, Data Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, AI Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, awarded or within one year of completion.

  • Experience as a teaching assistant or instructor at an accredited institution of higher learning in the technology workforce (preferred).
  • Evidence of effective use of computer technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in online and/or distance learning, as well as curriculum design and implementation in higher education, is a plus.
  • Desire to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
