Job Description:

  • Supervisor: The Associate Director for Education & Support Programs.

Summary:

  • The Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) is seeking a graduate student to provide intentional, visual, and educational support for CDI's multimedia advancement. The Multimedia Coordinator is responsible for creating and producing innovative multimedia content that is engaging, visually appealing, and meets the needs of an organization's branding and marketing goals. They must have a wide range of skills, including graphic design, video production, and web development skills. They will work as part of a team and collaborate with other creative professionals to bring multimedia projects to life.
  • The Center for Diversity & Inclusion is looking for a collaborative team player interested in enhancing the experience of all students, understanding the campus climate, and partnering intentionally with campus partners and administrative offices to tell to cultivate and create spaces that allows students to engage with one another through dialogue in a meaningful and community driven manner.

Required Education & Experience:

  • The Graduate Coordinator for Multimedia must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program at American University.
  • Additionally, they must acknowledge and understand multilayered topics of identity, including ability, race, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender expression, etc

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in development and implementation of strategy for multimedia content
  • Develops and edits creative concepts and designs for multimedia. projects. through utilizing various design software and programs.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure content is aligned with brand messaging and marketing strategies.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timeliness and quality of deliverables.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and design trends.
  • Provide technical support for multimedia equipment and software.
  • Provide supervision to the Videographer and Graphic Designer.
  • Edits video, audio recordings for use in multimedia for CDI's website, specifically educational programs.
  • Develop analytical reports relating to implementation of media strategies and social media handles.
  • Research, benchmark, and assess CDI and other campuses' educational, support programs, & media efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned with general office tasks

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and/or Premiere Pro.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and aesthetic concepts.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and software

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is an in person (nonhybrid) position that can work up to 20 hours (a week)

Salary Range:
- $18.50/hour

Required Education and Experience:

  • Open to all graduate students who are enrolled in an American University degree program for the academic year.
  • As a note, there are no tuition benefits available for this position
