    Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for an Engineer I or II to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team.

    What does an Engineer I or II do for us? Electrical Design:
    Design electric power system distribution, transmission, generation, instrumentation, protection and controls, communication systems, EMS/SCADA, cable management, and metering systems


    They also:
    + Plan and lead projects, assignments, and technical investigations + Act as a liaison between other departments and organizations + Evaluate progress and results, recommending changes in procedures + Exercise moderate technical judgment in decision-making and independent action + Are responsible for budgeting, financial accountability, and timelines on assigned projects + Utilize industry and discipline related knowledge to interpret and comply with regulations as required by NERC, FERC, WECC, EPA, NESC, OSHA, FCC, etc. + Design and specifications of power plant and dam electric systems including instrumentation, protection and controls, governors, Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVRs), circuit breakers, communication systems, integration with PLC systems, Intake and Spillway controls, EMS/SCADA, and metering systems + Review of PLC Logic Schemes + Project Management for electrical and controls projects + Frequent use of MS Project, Meridian, CAD software Engineer I: Operating under general supervision and with oversight, an Engineer I is developing technical expertise in their field. This role plans and leads assignments and projects, may interface with internal departments and external organizations, and receives guidance from leaders and other engineers as needed.


    Engineer II:
    Operating under limited supervision, an Engineer II has an intermediate level of technical expertise in their field.

    This role plans and leads moderately complex assignments and projects, interfaces with internal departments and external organizations, and receives high-level guidance from leaders and other engineers as needed.


    REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of:
    + General engineering principles + General Control System principles + Generator governor controls + Generator AVR controls + Power plant auxiliary control system + Protective relay applications + Instrument transformers Skills in: + Troubleshooting + Interdisciplinary skills + Communication, both oral and written + Computers and software use + Producing technical reports + CAD experience is an advantage + PLC knowledge is an advantage + MS project experience is an advantage Ability to: + Manage and coordinate projects + Establish and maintain effective working relationships + Work both independently and on project teams + Develop alternatives and work with others to evaluate their value and potential for meeting company needs + Draft written and oral reports of problems, alternatives, and recommendations MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: + Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution OR + Bachelor in Engineering from a non

    license OR + Graduating from an accredited program with a bachelor of science in Engineering by May 31st, 2024 Experience:
    + Engineer I - 0-2 years related experience + Engineer II - 2 or more years of related experience Preferred: + Engineer I/II
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation Licenses & Certifications: + Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS + Travel with out of town stays may be required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time.
    It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. Ergonomic accommodations including sit to stand desks are available and installed as needed.
