    Senior Sales Manager


    will connect personally and genuinely with guests, contacts, and colleagues alike and employs passion of their product, their role, their team, and everyone's collective success to pursue and cultivate business.

    In this innovative position, the Senior Sales Manager creates and executes strategies and initiatives to sell the properties lodging/event/catering facilities and participate in the development and execution of themed programming events hosted at the property.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sell hotel room nights through direct client contact; maintain a high level of visibility for the hotel in major market areas through direct sales solicitation; telephone contacts and written communication.

    Implement hotel-level tactical sales plans as assigned to achieve greater profitability through increasing average rates, increasing overall occupancy, increasing business volume during off-peak periods, and enhancing the image of the hotel in the local community.

    Develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups and companies, and attend out-of-town conventions and trade shows, to promote new business and increase sales for the hotel.

    Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel departments.

    Review the daily business levels, anticipate critical situations, and plan effective solutions in conjunction with department heads to best expedite these situations.


    Interact with outside contacts:
    Guests – to ensure their total satisfaction
    Airlines, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, ad agencies within local, domestic and international markets – to ensure repeat business, follow up on events, and generate new business
    Other contacts as needed (Professional organizations, community groups, local media)
    To satisfactorily perform routine functions of the Sales Manager, including but not limited to:
    Preparing and negotiating contracts
    Designing and implementing sales action plans
    Creating and implementing promotions
    Maintaining and developing business contacts
    To work to attain personal and team sales goals.
    Pursue high value, strategic sales prospects. Effectively drive and manage the sales cycle for key accounts.
    Continually ideate and test innovative sales tactics to improve new client acquisition processes

    Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through various efforts including prospecting, site tours, sales blitzes, prompt and competent follow-up on leads/referrals, use of reader board analysis, and networking in order to maximize room revenue to meet and/or exceed individual and team sales and revenue goals.

    Develop and continually enhance relationships with key accounts, business and travel industry accounts, community organizations and professional associations to maintain high visibility and increase market share.

    Successfully and consistently achieve minimum weekly sales activities requirements. Track all weekly sales activities including goal-to-current production status.
    Complete month end reporting as directed
    Prepare monthly 90 day group forecast with the input from General Manager
    Conduct sales presentations to clients and ownership verbally and using the latest technology
    Conduct and create Fam Trips for meeting planners/companies
    Lead Follow up/ Lead generation
    Conduct Site Inspections
    Attend trade shows as needed
    To monitor group arrival/departure patterns, rate, room blocks, public space allocation, and special negotiations.
    To assist Sales/Catering team members in their contract negotiations and to actively support their development of promotional ideas.
    To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
    To comply and promote all company policies and procedures.
    To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
    To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
    Focus on safety and the following of safe work practices by yourself and those under your direction. Including compliance with company safety standards, and state and local regulations that pertain to your department.
    To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
    To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.

    Bachelor's degree in Sales and Marketing or Hotel Management, or equivalent experience required and 4 years total experience working with a large or variety of market segments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting.

    Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
    Experience in the local market a plus

    Patience and tact required to accommodate customer needs and resolve occasional difficult situations.
    High quality standards for production and service.
    Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity.
    Ability to work to deadlines.

    Essential Physical Abilities:
    Must be able to travel.
    Must be flexible to work long, sometimes irregular hours, to accommodate client schedules.
    Must be able to work well under pressure.
